Enrique Hernandez Undergoes Elbow Surgery

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Enrique Hernandez (elbow) announced that he had left-elbow surgery on Friday for an injury that he played through during the second half of the regular season and into the playoffs, according to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times. Hernandez said it will prevent him from playing for Team Puerto Rico in the 2026 World Baseball Classic next spring. It's unclear if the 34-year-old veteran will be delayed for the start of the 2026 regular season. Kike barely hit over .200 during 92 regular-season games for L.A. while adding 10 home runs, 35 RBI, and 30 runs scored in 256 plate appearances. He was better during the playoffs, though, going 16-for-64 (.250) with a homer and seven RBI to help the Dodgers win back-to-back World Series championships. Hernandez is an unrestricted free agent this offseason and won't be much of a fantasy target, regardless of where he lands.

Enrique Hernandez Playing in Game 1 of Wild-Card Series

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Enrique Hernandez is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's Game 1 of the Wild Card round. It looks like Hernandez is going to get plenty of chances in this series. The Dodgers have decided not to include Michael Conforto on the roster for this series. That being said, Hernandez and Andy Pages figure to see a majority of the time in left field. Hernandez will cover left field and bat eighth against right-hander Hunter Greene on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should look elsewhere for a DFS option. Hernandez hits much better against left-handed pitching, so he won't be an ideal option here.

Enrique Hernandez Activated from Injured List

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Enrique Hernandez (elbow) was activated off the 10-day injured list ahead of Monday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Hernandez isn't in the starting lineup on Monday, but should play on Tuesday or Wednesday. The veteran slugger has been sidelined since early July due to left elbow inflammation. Before that, Hernandez was struggling at the plate, so hopefully some time off will help him get back on track. The 34-year-old doesn't bring enough upside with the bat to warrant rostering in fantasy formats. In a corresponding move, infielder Buddy Kennedy has been designated for assignment.

Enrique Hernandez Starting Rehab Assignment on Wednesday

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Enrique Hernandez (elbow) is beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports. Manager Dave Roberts said it's "feasible" that Hernandez could rejoin the Dodgers at some point next week. The team has gone more than a month without the 33-year-old utility player, who went on the 10-day injured list with left-elbow inflammation on July 7. Before then, Hernandez posted an unappealing .195/.259/.367 line with eight homers, 22 RBI, and 23 runs scored in 186 plate appearances.

Enrique Hernandez and Hyeseong Kim Starting Rehab Assignments

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Enrique Hernandez (elbow) and second baseman Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) are both expected to begin rehab assignments in Triple-A Oklahoma City this week, reports Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Hernandez has been out since July 5 with left elbow inflammation and has recently been participating in batting practice without issue. Kim has been sidelined since July 28 with left shoulder bursitis and was also recently able to take batting practice pain-free. He has a much better chance to see regular at-bats than Hernandez upon returning, as he's posted a .304 batting average and .338 on-base percentage this season and could become a primary infield option until Tommy Edman gets healthy.

Enrique Hernandez Could Return in Early September

Los Angeles Dodgers utility player Enrique Hernandez (elbow) is pain-free in his left elbow and ready to ramp up baseball activities, manager Dave Roberts told reporters. Roberts added that Hernandez could return in early September. The 33-year-old has already missed just over a month since elbow inflammation forced him to the 10-day injured list on July 7. Hernandez didn't make much of an impact with the bat in 72 games before then, as he hit .195/.259/.367 with eight homers, 22 RBI, and 23 runs scored over 186 plate appearances. He has continued to provide defensive versatility this season, however, with double-digit starts at four positions (first, second, third, and left field).

Enrique Hernandez Not Guaranteed to Return This Year

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that the team is "hopeful" that utility man Enrique Hernandez (elbow) will return this year, but it's not guaranteed. Hernandez has been out since early July with left-elbow inflammation and may not be back with the Dodgers in 2025. The 33-year-old veteran has not resumed baseball activities, so he might merely be hoping that he can be an option for the club in the postseason in October as they look to win back-to-back rings. The news doesn't really matter for fantasy purposes, as Kike hasn't been of any help in a depth role this year for the Dodgers, hitting a mere .195/.259/.367 with a low .626 OPS, eight home runs, 22 RBI and 23 runs scored in only 169 at-bats. Rookie Alex Freeland and newly-acquired outfielder Alex Call will give the Dodgers additional infield and outfield depth with Hernandez potentially out the rest of the way.

Enrique Hernandez to Injured List, James Outman Recalled

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Enrique Hernandez (elbow) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday. Hernandez has reportedly been dealing with elbow inflammation for a while now, so the team decided to give him some time off. Luckily, Hernandez is dealing with inflammation in his non-throwing arm, so hopefully he'll be able to return faster. In a corresponding move, outfielder James Outman has been recalled from Triple-A. Outman figures to serve as a depth option in the outfield over the next few weeks. Outman will bat ninth and cover center field versus right-hander Freddy Peralta on Monday. The left-handed slugger is 3-for-24 at the big league level this season, so he's not an ideal fantasy option.

Enrique Hernandez Homers, Gets on Base Five Times in Loss

Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Enrique Hernandez got on base in all five plate appearances in Saturday's 11-9 loss to the Angels, going 2-for-2 with his seventh home run of the year and drawing three walks. The 33-year-old recorded one RBI and scored three times in the contest as well. Since May 7, the veteran is 10-for-27 (.370) with a double, two home runs, three RBI, eight runs scored, and a 4:4 BB:K, hitting up and down the Dodger lineup and playing all over the field. His positional versatility (1B, 2B, 3B, SS, and OF on Yahoo!) makes him an appealing waiver add in season-long leagues while he's hitting well, and can be a cheap DFS option in good matchups. Speaking of which, the right-handed hitter will face off against lefty Yusei Kikuchi in Sunday's series finale, whom he is 5-for-16 off of lifetime with a double, two walks, and zero strikeouts.

Enrique Hernandez Homers In Three-Hit Game On Friday

Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Enrique Hernandez went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and three runs scored in Friday's 14-11 win over the Diamondbacks. The veteran's batting average may not show it as it sits at .215, but he's been somewhat productive in the lineup, now with six home runs on the year with 15 RBI, and 12 runs scored in 87 plate appearances, leading to a .317 wOBA and 102 wRC+. He is not a preferred option for fantasy without regular at-bats, though, despite being eligible at 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, and OF on Yahoo!. If the 33-year-old found regular ABs, then he would be in consideration for a roster spot, as he's clearly still got some pop in his bat, although a career high 13.8 percent barrel rate is sure to regress, but for now, he is a just a cheap DFS option unless you play in an NL-only league.
