Angels
First baseman Evan White is headed from Atlanta to the Los Angeles Angels. White was just acquired by Atlanta from Seattle. He hasn't appeared in the big leagues in two years. The 27-year-old has pop but it doesn't look like he has a good enough hit tool to carve out a regular role for a big-league squad.

Evan White Outrighted To Triple-A
Atlanta Braves first baseman Evan White has been outrighted off the club's 40-man roster and has been assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett. The move comes on the heels of a one-year, non-guaranteed split contract given to relief pitcher Angel Perdomo. White was acquired as part of this week's trade for Jarred Kelenic while the 27-year-old is still owed $17 million from the six-year, $24 million contract he signed with the Seattle Mariners prior to his MLB debut. Despite his early extension, White has struggled mightily at the plate in the big leagues as he's logged a .165 average with 10 home runs and one stolen base across 306 plate appearances and has not appeared in the majors since the 2021 season. He would forfeit his remaining salary should he reject the outright assignment so expect White to begin the 2024 season in Gwinnett.

Braves Acquire Jarred Kelenic, Marco Gonzales, Evan White
The Atlanta Braves acquired outfielder Jarred Kelenic, left-hander Marco Gonzales and first baseman Evan White from the Seattle Mariners on Sunday night in exchange for pitchers Jackson Kowar and Cole Phillips. Kelenic, a former top prospect, struggled in his three seasons with Seattle. However, he was having his best year in 2023 before fracturing his toe when he kicked a water cooler in the dugout in frustration. The 24-year-old will have some sleeper appeal with the move to Atlanta, and he should start regularly in left field against right-handed pitching. Gonzales, 31, struggled to an ERA over 5.00 in 2023 and made only 10 starts due to surgery on his left forearm. White, 27, who hasn't played in the big leagues the last two years, was mainly a salary dump for the M's. He has season-ending hip surgery in May.

Evan White Should Be Ready For Spring Training
Seattle Mariners first baseman Evan White (hip) is expected to be ready for the beginning of spring training. The 27-year-old hasn't appeared in an MLB game since 2021 due to multiple injuries. When healthy, White slashed .165/.235/.308 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI in 84 games across parts of two seasons with the Mariners. White is a former top prospect, but has never fully put it together at the MLB level. Hopefully, he'll be able to get back on track starting in spring training.

Evan White Has Hip Surgery Monday
Seattle Mariners first baseman Evan White (hip) had surgery on his hip on Monday. The procedure reportedly went well as White had surgery to release a tendon that was impinging his hip joint while also getting some scar tissue cleaned up. White's early timetable calls for him to miss about three months, meaning it will be close to September by the time he is able to return. He is unlikely to be a fantasy option until the 2024 season at the earliest.

Evan White, Sam Haggerty Good To Go
Seattle Mariners first baseman Evan White (hip) is as healthy as he's ever been with spring training approaching. Meanwhile, infielder/outfielder Sam Haggerty (groin) should also be good to go for spring training. Reliever Andres Munoz (foot) is out of a walking boot and has started his throwing program after having foot surgery. White had sports-hernia surgery in 2022 and also deal with a hip injury, limiting him to just 107 plate appearances at Triple-A Tacoma. The 26-year-old will need to stay healthy and produce in order to find regular at-bats at the major-league level in 2023. Haggerty will serve in a utility role yet again after hitting .256 with five homers, 23 RBI and 13 steals in 83 games. He's worth rostering in AL-only leagues for his speed. Munoz had a breakout season in 2022 and should serve as a top setup man ahead of closer Paul Sewald when he's healthy.

Evan White Starts Rehab Assignment
Seattle Mariners first baseman Evan White (hernia) began a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. He was diagnosed with a sports hernia during spring training and had surgery on March 30, which has prevented him from playing so far in 2022. The 26-year-old will have a lengthy rehab assignment because of how long he's been out, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect a hasty return to the big leagues. White should see at least semi-regular at-bats between first base and designated hitter once he's activated from the 60-day injured list. In 84 games for Seattle the last two seasons, White has hit just .165/.235/.308 with 10 home runs, 35 RBI and 27 runs scored in 306 plate appearances.

Evan White Undergoes Sports-Hernia Surgery
Seattle Mariners first baseman Evan White (hernia) underwent successful surgery to fix a sports hernia on Wednesday, but his timeline for a return is unknown. White was injured last Thursday and will begin the 2022 season on the 60-day injured list most likely. The 25-year-old made his major league debut in 2020 but hasn't been very good in 306 plate appearances, slashing .165/.235/.308 with 10 home runs, 35 RBI and 27 runs scored in 84 games for Seattle. With White out for the foreseeable future, Ty France will open the year as the Mariners everyday starting first baseman.

Evan White Diagnosed With Sports Hernia
Seattle Mariners first baseman Evan White (hernia) has been diagnosed with a sports hernia, according to Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times. Also per Divish, the first baseman wants to have surgery "as soon as possible." White hit .144 with a .202 on-base percentage and a pair of home runs in 104 games in the Majors with Seattle last season. Ty France is currently the Mariners' starter at first base. The 27-year-old hit .291 with a .368 on-base percentage and 18 home runs in 650 plate appearances last season.

Evan White To Undergo Season-Ending Surgery
Seattle Mariners first baseman Evan White (hip) will miss the rest of the season as he undergoes surgery. White was originally placed on the injured list March 14, but the team discovered that "the injury is more ominous than we thought" according to general manager Jerry DiPoto. This is a major setback for White, who was already struggling to a .165/.235/.308 slash line this season. He can be dropped in all formats. Jake Bauers, Ty France, and Luis Torrens figure to pick up reps at first base.
