Franklin Gutierrez Fantasy Stats

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Franklin Gutierrez (back) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment soon. The veteran outfielder has been on the disabled list since late June with ankylosing spondylitis, an inflammatory disease that can cause vertebrae in the spine to fuse. Gutierrez will likely spend more than a week playing in minor league games before the Dodgers consider activating him. He is usually known as a good option against left-handed pitchers, but only has a .195 batting average in RvL matchups this season, hurting any value that he has.

With Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Cody Bellinger on tonight's bench, outfielder Franklin Gutierrez will draw the start in left field and bat in the No. 2 spot. Brought in to help with the Dodgers struggles against left-handed pitchers, the outfielder will look to earn his paycheck tonight versus Giants lefty Ty Blach. Gutierrez on the season is hitting .320 in a small sample size of just 25 at-bats but is a career .289 hitter against lefties. He should remain on the waiver wire, but he's a solid cheap DFS option when he's facing southpaws like tonight.
