Gabriel Arias Returns to Guardians Lineup

Cleveland Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias (wrist) is back at shortstop and is hitting sixth in Friday's contest against the division-rival Chicago White Sox and left-hander Martin Perez at Progressive Field. Arias is returning to action after he missed the last three games with inflammation in his right wrist. Now that he's back, Brayan Rocchio will shift back to second base for the Guards. The 25-year-old Arias is a defense-first middle infielder, so he doesn't carry much value in fantasy. The Venezuelan is returning to a .223/.280/.363 slash line with a .643 OPS, 10 home runs, 48 RBI, 39 runs, and six stolen bases in 372 at-bats this year. Arias is hitless in just one career at-bat against the veteran Perez. Fantasy managers setting DFS lineups should have better sleeper options at the position on Friday.

Gabriel Arias Sidelined Again on Wednesday

Cleveland Guardians middle infielder Gabriel Arias (wrist) remains out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's clash against the division-rival Kansas City Royals at Progressive Field. Brayan Rocchio is starting at shortstop and will bat eighth against Royals right-hander Jonathan Bowlan. Arias was pulled from Monday's series opener with inflammation in his right wrist and will miss his second straight game. The 25-year-old is considered day-to-day for now and hopes to return for Thursday's series finale against KC. Arias has missed plenty of time of late due to nagging injuries and isn't much to look at offensively when he's healthy anyway. Rocchio isn't much better for fantasy purposes and should be considered a weak DFS sleeper at the position. The 24-year-old Venezuelan has hit .237 (68-for-287) on the year with four homers, 40 RBI, and six steals.

Gabriel Arias Held Out on Tuesday

Cleveland Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias (wrist) is being held out of the starting lineup on Tuesday against the division-rival Kansas City Royals after he left Monday's game early with right-wrist inflammation. Brayan Rocchio is starting at short and will bat seventh against Royals left-hander Noah Cameron. Arias is considered day-to-day for now and could be able to rejoin the lineup for the continuation of the series at Progressive Field on Wednesday. Daniel Schneemann is starting at the keystone and is batting eighth in the order. Neither Arias nor Rocchio is much to look at for fantasy purposes, so managers should have better sleeper options at shortstop for Tuesday's slate. The 24-year-old Rocchio is a switch-hitting, glove-first infielder who is batting .236 (67-for-284) on the season with a weak .635 OPS, four homers, 40 RBI, and six steals.

Gabriel Arias Exits Guardians' Game with Undisclosed Injury

Cleveland Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias was removed from Monday's game after suffering an apparent injury during a fourth-inning strikeout. Manager Stephen Vogt came out to check on him and allowed Arias to remain in the game for the fifth inning, but he was later replaced by Angel Martinez, with Brayan Rocchio shifting to shortstop. The team has not yet disclosed the specifics of the injury, and Arias should be considered day-to-day until more information is available. The 25-year-old has played a steady role in Cleveland's infield this season, slashing .222/.280/.363 with 10 home runs, and his availability moving forward will be key for the Guardians' lineup flexibility.

Gabriel Arias Expected to Return on Wednesday

Cleveland Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias (hand) is expected to return to the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, according to MLB.com. Arias was also expected to return on Tuesday, but instead he was held out as a precaution and was available off the bench. The 25-year-old was hit by a 94.7 mph sinker in the second inning on Aug. 29 and exited immediately, although X-rays came back negative. Arias has not started a game since, but he should be back in there on Wednesday at the 6 for Cleveland. Light-hitting Brayan Rocchio has shifted over to shortstop for the Guards since Arias' injury. Arias isn't much of an offensive force himself and is only valuable in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues as middle-infield depth. He is hitting a paltry .222 (78-for-351) on the year with nine homers, 45 RBI, 36 runs and six steals.

Gabriel Arias Not Playing on Tuesday

Cleveland Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias (hand) is still out of the starting nine for Tuesday's game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Brayan Rocchio will slide over to shortstop for yet another start and will bat seventh against Red Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet. The Guardians were expecting Arias to return to action on Tuesday after he was hit on his right hand by a pitch last Friday, but they are giving him another day off and he will miss a fourth straight game. Rocchio isn't much to look at with a bat in his hands and is hitless in four career at-bats against Crochet. Fantasy managers setting DFS lineups should look elsewhere for a sleeper at the position. Arias is also a glove-first player for the Guards and is currently slashing a weak .222/.281/.362 with a .642 OPS, nine home runs, 45 RBI, 36 runs and six steals in 351 at-bats.

Gabriel Arias Expected to Return Tuesday

Cleveland Guardians shortstop Gabriel Arias (hand) is expected to be ready to make a return on Tuesday night when the Guardians take on the Red Sox and Garrett Crochet. He was available off the bench on Monday after being hit in the right hand by a pitch in the bottom of the second inning last Friday against the Mariners. The 25-year-old had X-rays, which were negative, but still missed the last three games with a contusion. Arias is hitting exactly .222 for the second straight season and has added nine homers along with a career-high six stolen bases. He has been struggling at the plate over the last month, hitting just .179 in August, but he continues to turn in excellent defense for Cleveland. He's not a big enough offensive contributor to be a mixed-league option, but he is a regular in the lineup for the Guardians and brings a little pop and speed as a streaming option or DFS value play.

Gabriel Arias Out Again on Monday

Cleveland Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias (hand) remains out of action for Monday's series opener at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox. Brayan Rocchio will make yet another start at the 6 on Monday and will hit ninth against Red Sox right-hander Brayan Bello. Arias suffered a bruised right hand when he was hit by a pitch on Friday against the Seattle Mariners, and this will be his third straight game starting on the bench. X-rays came back negative on the 25-year-old, though, so hopefully he will be able to return at some point during the series in Boston. Daniel Schneeman is making the start at second and will hit second in the series opener. Neither Arias nor Rocchio are much to look at from an offensive standpoint for fantasy managers. Rocchio, 24, is currently hitting .231 (60-for-260) with only three home runs, 34 RBI and six steals on the season.

Gabriel Arias Remains Out With Hand Injury

Cleveland Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias (hand) remains out of the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the visiting Seattle Mariners at Progressive Field. Brayan Rocchio will make another start at shortstop and will bat out of the eight-hole against Mariners right-hander Bryce Miller. A right-hand contusion that Arias suffered on a hit-by-pitch on Friday in the series opener against Seattle will keep him out for the second straight day. X-rays on the 25-year-old's hand came back negative, though, so he could be back in action for Monday's series opener at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox. Fantasy managers setting DFS lineups on Sunday should be able to do much better than Rocchio if they're looking for a low-cost sleeper at the position. Rocchio is hitting just .233 (60-for-257) with only three home runs, 34 RBI and six stolen bases. He's hitless in two career at-bats against Miller.

Gabriel Arias Not in Lineup on Saturday

Cleveland Guardians shortstop Gabriel Arias (wrist) is out of the lineup Saturday against Seattle Mariners right-hander Logan Gilbert. Brayan Rocchio will take over at short and bat ninth. Arias left the Guardians' 5-4 win over the Mariners on Friday after starter George Kirby hit him in the right wrist with a 94.7 mph sinker in the second inning. While X-rays came back negative, Arias will still need at least one day off to recuperate. The 25-year-old has been a plus defender at short this season, but he hasn't contributed much offense since he debuted in 2022. Arias has taken 386 trips to the plate in 2025 and hit .222/.281/.362 with nine homers, 45 RBI, 36 runs scored, and six stolen bases.
