Hanley Ramirez Designated for Assignment on Saturday
Cleveland Indians designated hitter Hanley Ramirez has been designated for assignment on Saturday. Shortstop Francisco Lindor (leg) has activated from the 10-day injured list, so Ramirez was cut to clear up a roster spot. Ramirez saw 57 plate appearances in Cleveland, but managed just a .184/.298/.327, so it's tough to overlook that. He may bounce back elsewhere, but most fantasy owners can find better options.
Cleveland Indians designated hitter Hanley Ramirez hit a home run on Wednesday, finishing 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. It's obviously a small sample, but Ramirez has a .904 OPS in the early going and likely remains on many league's waiver wires. Teams could do worse than to look at him as an end-of-bench guy for now. We all know the upside in his bat.
Cleveland Indians first baseman Hanley Ramirez has been informed that he will make the team's Opening Day 25-man roster. Han-Ram resurfaces after hitting just .254 with six home runs and 29 RBI in 44 games in 2018 before being released by the Red Sox. He'll serve as depth at both first base and designated hitter for a Tribe team that is limping into the regular season. Ramirez should only be a consideration in deep AL-only leagues at this point in his career.
Cleveland Indians first baseman Hanley Ramirez has made the team's Opening Day roster, manager Terry Francona confirmed on Sunday. Han-Ram signed a minor league deal in February and entered Sunday hitting .278/.316/.528 with two home runs and eight RBI in 36 spring at-bats. He'll be an option for at-bats at first base but won't be guaranteed regular playing time. Leave him to the waiver wire for now in all formats.
Free-agent first baseman/designated hitter Hanley Ramirez is working out in the Dominican Republic and plans to play winter ball before attempting a comeback in 2019. Han-Ram played in just 44 games for the Red Sox before being released in May, hitting .254/.313/.395 with six home runs and 29 RBI. If healthy, Ramirez could get a shot somewhere on a minor league, likely with an American League team. He'll be 35 next season and is unlikely to be much of an asset in mixed leagues if he makes it back up to the big leagues next year.
Free Agent first baseman/designated hitter Hanley Ramirez is not under federal investigation in connections to a drug ring. Ramirez's friend dropped his name in an attempt to avoid arrest, but it seems to be unrelated to Ramirez. He also does not need to involve himself in a drug ring given his most recent contract with the Red Sox. Ramirez is still looking for a home after being released in May. Ramirez had a great month of April and horrendous month of May, so even if he does sign, do not expect anything spectacular.
The Baltimore Orioles are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing first baseman Hanley Ramirez, although it is unclear how much interest there actually is. Ramirez was recently released by the Red Sox even though he had a solid start to the season. Baltimore is currently deploying Chris Davis as their primary first baseman and he has by some measures had one of the worst hitting seasons in major league history. Davis's slash line of .152/.234/.236 over the course of 184 at-bats is abhorrent, especially with the fact that he only has four home runs to show for it. Hanley would be a welcome addition to a lowly Baltimore squad that is better off building for the future but still wants to fill seats in 2018.
Boston Red Sox first baseman Hanley Ramirez has officially been released by the team and will be on waivers for 48 hours. The expectation is that no team will claim Ramirez off waivers because they want to stay away from the contract. This means that there will be at least two days until Ramirez is free to sign, but it could end up being a longer process. Ramirez had a red-hot April but had a horrible month of May before being designated for assignment and then released. Ramirez is hard to hold onto right now due to the fact that it could be a week or more before he finds a home and once he does, it is hard to imagine he plays full time.
Boston Red Sox first baseman Hanley Ramirez has been designated for assignment, according to Alex Speier of The Boston Globe. Ramirez promised 30/30 this year and has been surprising good this year, albeit not at that pace. He had a very good April, but has been slumping in May. Ramirez has six homers with 25 runs, 29 RBI and four stolen bases to go with a .254 average on the year. This move allows Dustin Pedroia to be activated from the DL. It also makes Mitch Moreland a more coveted asset in all leagues.
Boston Red Sox first baseman Hanley Ramirez will get a routine day off Sunday which allows Mitch Moreland to face a right-hander. Ramirez continues to surprise and has six homers, with 29 RBI, and four stolen bases with a decent .271 average. He benefits from being in a loaded lineup so the RBI opportunities will continue to mount throughout the season, even in a time share with Moreland. Adjust Sunday lineups accordingly.
