Free-agent starting pitcher Ivan Nova is signing a deal with the Colorado Rockies on Monday, according to Robert Murray of FanSided. Nova did not look great in four starts with the Tigers in 2020, going 1-1 with an 8.53 ERA and 10.2 percent strikeout rate. He didn't look any better in spring training this year, where he posted a 7.30 ERA with a 10.3 percent strikeout rate in 12 1/3 innings with the Phillies. In all likelihood, Nova won't have any fantasy value this year, but he has managed to put together solid starts every now and then, making him a potential matchup-dependent streaming option in deeper formats if he makes starts for the team.
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ivan Nova allowed five runs while only recording one out in his Grapefruit League debut on Sunday. Nova allowed a home run on his first pitch of the game and things went downhill from there as the veteran couldn't escape the first inning. The Phillies inked Nova to a minor league deal in January and he'll compete with Vince Velasquez, Matt Moore, and Chase Anderson for a spot in the rotation. Nova posted a SIERA over five in his last full season and has just a 16.8 career strikeout rate so fantasy managers shouldn't be drafting Nova.
Detroit Tigers right-handed pitcher Ivan Nova has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to right triceps tendinitis, thereby freeing up a spot in the clubs starting rotation. Nova has been hit hard across his first four starts of 2020, amassing an 8.48 ERA and 1.63 WHIP. He has held very little fantasy intrigue, but his absence creates a ton; with a Pipeline chock full of talented and exciting arms, the Tigers are running out of reasons to not call up at least one of their top prospects. Casey Mize, the No. 1 overall pick in 2018, tops the list as a possibility, but owners will want to check back to see who takes Novas spot, at least in the short-term.
Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Ivan Nova lasted 5 2/3 innings on Tuesday versus the Royals. Nova allowed six hits, three runs, zero walks and struck out six on the evening. Nova has had a solid second half, but doesnt hold much value outside of AL-only leagues. Nova will face the Mariners on Sunday.
Chicago White Sox starter Ivan Nova got a complete-game win versus the Houston Astros in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader. He let up just four hits and one unearned run as the White Sox won 4-1. In his last five starts, Nova has four wins and only two earned runs. While his hot streak is alive, Nova is a good candidate for a spot start, although be wary once it ends, as he still sports a 4.51 ERA on the season.
Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Ivan Nova allowed ten hits, three runs, one walk and struck out three batters versus the Houston Astros in seven innings. Nova has been one of the worst starting pitchers in baseball this year, so it was surprising to see him last this long versus a tough Astros lineup. Nova now owns a 6.96 ERA going into to a start versus the Royals on Monday. Nova should be left on waivers in all formats.
Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Ivan Nova had another rough outing on Friday versus the Toronto Blue Jays. Nova allowed nine runs (eight earned) on eight hits and four walks while striking out one in three innings. Nova has been disastrous this season and now owns a 7.42 ERA. Nova will look for better results versus a tough Astros lineup in his next start.
Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Ivan Nova got hit hard on Thursday versus the Detroit Tigers. Nova allowed 11 hits, six runs, zero walks and struck out three over 6 1/3 innings. The rough outing raises his ERA to 6.23 on the season. Nova will look to get back on track versus the Orioles in a favorable matchup on Tuesday. Other than streaming, Nova can be left on the waiver wire in all formats.
Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Ivan Nova got beat up by the Seattle Mariners offense on Sunday. Nova only lasted 2 1/3 innings and allowed seven hits, seven runs, one walk and struck out two. Nova should only be used as a streamer and will face a tough Yankees offense in his next start.
Reynaldo Lopez, Lucas Giolito, Ivan Nova Lined Up For White Sox
The Chicago White Sox will start pitchers Reynaldo Lopez on Thursday, Lucas Giolito on Saturday and Ivan Nova on Sunday for their upcoming series against the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners are hitting very well as a team right now and have four left-handed starting hitters. This makes Chicago's three starting pitchers, who are all right-handed and have either low floors or low upside in Nova's case, risky fantasy plays that are best avoided. On the flip side, be on the lookout for DFS values on the Mariners this weekend.
