Tigers Sign Jace Fry To Minor-League Deal

The Detroit Tigers have signed left-handed relief pitcher Jace Fry to a minor-league deal, per a tweet from the team's public relations Twitter account on Wednesday. Also per the tweet, the deal comes with an invitation to Major League Spring Training. Fry has made 162 Major League appearances in his career, all for the Chicago White Sox. The veteran owns a 5.04 ERA, a 4.23 FIP, 168 strikeouts, and 86 walks in 139.1-lifetime innings in the Majors. Fry also owns four saves and 28 holds during that span. The left-hander split the 2022 seasons with the Triple-A affiliates of the Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals. He'll provide the Tigers with some additional bullpen depth heading into the season.

Jace Fry Activated From The IL And Optioned

Chicago White Sox relief pitcher Jace Fry (back) has been activated from the 60-day injured list and was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday. Fry underwent surgery for back spasms back in January and is just getting over his rehab. He'll start throwing and honing his skills in the minors for now. The 27-year-old southpaw registered a 3.66 ERA over 19 2/3 innings back in 2020 and should rejoin the White Sox bullpen later on this season but he doesn't have any fantasy value.

Jace Fry Lands On IL With Back Spasms

Chicago White Sox left-handed pitcher Jace Fry was placed on the 10-day injured list prior to Saturdays contest against Kansas City due to back spasms. The club added righty Alex McRae to the active roster in place of Fry. Over the past three seasons, Fry has established himself as a vital cog in the White Sox bullpen, owning a 3.65 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 12 frames this season. While he hasnt earned a save since 2018, Fry is a solid contributor of strikeouts and holds for those in extremely deep leagues. The absence of Fry leaves Ross Detwiler, Gio Gonzalez, and Bernardo Flores Jr. as Chicago's left-handed options out of relief.

Jace Fry Gets The Save For The White Sox Sunday

In a season where White Sox manager Rick Renteria has shuffled the ninth inning role, Sunday he went with Jace Fry who struck out two batters over an innning for his first save. Nate Jones pitched Friday and Saturday and got the last two saves for the White Sox. Jones may have been unavailable Sunday which allowed Fry to get the ninth inning. The White Sox dont win many games and with manager Rick Renteria shuffling up the ninth inning game-by-game, the White Sox closer situation is one to avoid if owners can. Nate Jones would remain the most likely closer to pickup for owners who are desperate.

Jace Fry Picks Up First Career Save

Chicago White Sox reliever Jace Fry picked up his first career save in the White Sox win over the Texas Rangers on Sunday. Fry, 24, got the save opportunity because the Rangers had a lineup full of lefties to face him in the ninth inning. Fry chews up lefties, who looked foolish against him on Friday. Fry still has yet to allow a hit this season and has only walked two of the 27 batters he has faced, striking out 12 of them. His FIP is -0.85. That is not a typo, he actually has a negative FIP right now. Rick Renteria might not use him as a full-time closer moving forward, but he might be worth a speculative add just in case. And he will help immensely with your ratio categories even if he doesn't continue closing games.
