Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Jacob Turner made his return to the Tigers, the team he was selected by in the first round of the MLB draft in 2009. Turner has bounced around the league since, and his return to the Tigers was anything but a triumphant homecoming. Turner allowed seven runs (five earned) in just one inning of work on Tuesday, and it's safe to say he doesn't belong anywhere near a fantasy baseball lineup.
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Jacob Turner will replace Mike Fiers, who was traded to the A's on Monday, in the starting rotation. Turner will be making his first start for the team since 2012. In 80 innings at Triple-A this year, Turner has gone 3-4 with a 4.50 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and weak 6.5 K/9. He's made 22 appearances, with 11 being starts. It's safe to say Turner won't be a great fantasy option in any format.
Jacob Turner will be designated for assignment today to make room for Edwin Jackson, who is scheduled to start for the Nationals in Anaheim. The move comes amidst several that were instigated by the trades of Blake Treinen and two prospects for Sean Doolittle and Ryan Madson. It's been quite a ride for Turner, who was selected with the ninth overall pick of the 2009 draft by the Tigers. Turner pitched mostly out of the pen for the Nats over 39 innings with a 5.08 ERA and a 1.487 WHIP.
Jacob Turner was called up from Syracuse to help the Nationals and their ever-shifting pitching squad. He will take departed reliever Blake Treinen's spot as Koda Glover was moved to the 60-day DL. Turner is versatile; he's spent time in the Nats bullpen and has made two starts. Should Edwin Jackson not pan out on Tuesday, Turner would likely slide into his spot in the rotation.
Washington Nationals pitcher Jacob Turner will pitch out of the bullpen, the Nationals announced on Monday. With starter Joe Ross set to pitch on Tuesday versus the Mariners, the Nats will have the rotation they intended since the offseason. Turner pitched admirably in his two starts this season, which ironically makes him a perfect candidate to join the bullpen. The relievers have been a source of heartburn for the organization, and Turner's potential to be used in two innings makes the decision a no-brainer. Players in holds leagues may want to grab Turner if he's still available.
Washington Nationals starting pitcher Jacob Turner will make his second start this season for the Nationals today, this time against the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Spending some time in the bullpen, he's struck out 13 and walked four with a 1.22 WHIP since being called up on April 24. Turner is a former first-round pick who was selected eight spots after Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg and right before reliever Drew Storen in 2009. Given how lackluster the Pirates lineup is, Turner makes a great streamer and maybe more if all goes well.
