Jared Hoying Fantasy Stats

Texas Rangers outfielder Jared Hoying will make his season debut Wednesday against the Phillies after getting the call to replace outfielder Carlos Gomez, who is expected to miss four to six weeks with a hamstring injury. The 23-year-old had tallied a .234 ISO and a 12 percent walk rate at Triple-A Round Rock before the move was made. Hoying drew comparisons to third baseman Joey Gallo as a prospect, but doesn't have quite as much power and doesn't strike out as much. He was unable to make a dent with the big club in 46 at-bats last year, so prospective owners in shallow leagues may be wise to wait and see if he produces given the opportunity.
