White Sox Promote Jared Shuster

The Chicago White Sox have promoted pitcher Jared Shuster on Wednesday. Shuster was one of the many players acquired from the Atlanta Braves this offseason for Aaron Bummer. It will be his second go-around at the big-league level this season, with him tossing 6 1/3 innings earlier in the year out of the bullpen. Shuster fared well with four strikeouts and no walks with one run allowed. Shuster has struggled with a 6.39 ERA in three starts for Triple-A Charlotte, but it is expected that he will work out of the bullpen for the White Sox. He can safely remain on the waiver wire in all fantasy formats.

White Sox Acquire Michael Soroka, Jared Shuster, Others From Braves

The Chicago White Sox pulled off a trade on Thursday night, landing right-hander Michael Soroka (forearm), left-hander Jared Shuster, infielders Nicky Lopez and Braden Shewmake and minor-league right-hander Riley Gowens from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for left-handed reliever Aaron Bummer. Soroka was an All-Star in 2019 when he went 13-4 with a 2.68 ERA and 1.11 WHIP but two torn Achilles limited him to 13 2/3 innings over three starts from 2020 to 2022. In his return in 2023, he had a rough 6.40 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 32 1/3 innings before being shut down with right-forearm inflammation in September. Soroka is still only 26, though, so the White Sox will hope better health will allow him to get back to his 2019 form. Shuster, 25, made his big-league debut this year and had a 5.81 ERA (5.38 FIP), 1.50 WHIP, 26 walks and 30 strikeouts in 52 2/3 innings (11 starts).

Jared Shuster Will Start Sunday Against The Giants

Atlanta Braves left-hander Jared Shuster will start Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants. He was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday and will return to the majors for the first time since June. The 25-year-old owns a (4-2) record with a 5.00 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and a 25:22 K: BB across 45 innings in 2023. In his last major league start, he allowed four runs on seven hits while walking none and striking out two in just 3 2/3 innings against the Reds. Fantasy managers should see how Shuster performs on Sunday before using him as a streamer or entering him into their starting lineups.

Braves Option Jared Shuster To Triple-A

The Atlanta Braves optioned rookie left-hander Jared Shuster to Triple-A Gwinnett following their game on Wednesday. It comes after the young southpaw allowed four runs on seven hits while walking none and striking out two in just 3 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Cincinnati Reds on June 24. Shuster certainly has things to work on back in the minors after posting a 5.00 ERA (4.83 FIP), 1.42 WHIP, 22 walks and only 25 strikeouts in 45 innings over his first nine major-league starts. The 24-year-old will probably be back up again at some point in the second half of the season, but for now it looks like his rotation spot will go to Michael Soroka.

Jared Shuster Recalled For Tuesday's Start

The Atlanta Braves will recall left-hander Jared Shuster for Tuesday's start against the Texas Rangers, according to Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The 24-year-old made two starts at the big league level earlier this season and posted an ugly 8.31 ERA and 2.42 WHIP with five strikeouts across 8.2 innings. Over five starts in Triple-A, he owns a much better 3.28 ERA, but that's paired with a 21.5% strikeout rate and 13.1% walk rate. The Braves rotation has seen Max Fried (forearm) and Kyle Wright (shoulder) go on the shelf for what should be a while, so this may be a chance for Shuster to claim a spot on the staff long-term. However, fantasy managers would be wise to stay away from the former first-rounder, at least until he produces some results.

Jared Shuster Throws Six No-Hit Innings

Atlanta Braves prospect pitcher Jared Shuster threw six no-hit innings in a start for Triple-A Gwinnett. He had a 36% whiff rate, resulting in five strikeouts. He debuted with the Braves in early April, but they optioned him after just two starts. In eight-and-a-third innings at the MLB level, Shuster had an 8.31 ERA with nine walks and five strikeouts. At Triple-A, the 24-year-old has a 2.37 ERA but a 5.10 FIP through four starts. The top prospect should get another chance in the majors this year, but his stuff hasn't been impressive enough to stash.

Jared Shuster To Make Another Start On Friday

Atlanta Braves rookie left-hander Jared Shuster will make his second career start on Friday against the San Diego Padres. Shuster was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday after the team placed Collin McHugh (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list. The 24-year-old southpaw didn't fare well in his MLB debut last week against the Washington Nationals, when he allowed four earned runs on six hits while walking five and striking out one in 4 2/3 frames. Shuster is listed as the team's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, but fantasy managers will probably want to look for better streaming options than an unproven rookie against a tough Padres lineup.

Collin McHugh Put On Injured List, Jared Shuster Recalled

The Atlanta Braves placed right-hander Collin McHugh (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list on Thursday with right shoulder inflammation and recalled left-hander Jared Shuster from the minors in a corresponding move. McHugh had thrown 3 2/3 innings out of the bullpen for the Braves in three appearances in the early going, allowing an earned run on four hits while walking three and striking out two. He's not really fantasy relevant in a relief role for Atlanta. Shuster, a 24-year-old left-hander, made his major-league debut last week in a start against the Washington Nationals and struggled by allowing four earned runs on six hits while walking five and striking out one in 4 2/3 innings. There's a good chance he'll make his second start on Friday against the San Diego Padres.

Braves Option Jared Shuster, Recall Dylan Dodd

The Atlanta Braves optioned left-hander Jared Shuster to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday and selected the contract of left-hander Dylan Dodd from the minors in a corresponding move. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Braves designated outfielder Jordan Luplow for assignment. Shuster struggled in his MLB debut on Sunday against the Washington Nationals and allowed four runs on six hits while walking five and striking out one in 4 1/3 innings. Dodd will make his big-league debut on Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Meanwhile, Bryce Elder is expected to replace Max Fried (hamstring) in the rotation this week. Dodd, the team's No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is athletic but doesn't have overpowering stuff. His ceiling will likely be as a back-end starter in the big leagues.

Jared Shuster Struggles In MLB Debut

Atlanta Braves left-hander Jared Shuster (0-1) allowed four runs on six hits and five walks over 4 1/3 innings in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Washington Nationals. The 24-year-old made his MLB debut on Sunday and had a rough first inning. He surrendered four runs, with two runs coming off bases-loaded walks. Shuster settled down and fired 3 1/13 scoreless innings before getting pulled in the bottom of the fifth inning. The southpaw threw 79 pitches, landing 45 for strikes. Fantasy managers should take a wait-and-see approach with Shuster before using him as a streamer in Friday's home matchup against the San Diego Padres.
