The Minnesota Twins have called up shortstop Jermaine Palacios from the minors, and he said he will play shortstop on Tuesday against Detroit Tigers right-hander Rony Garcia. With Carlos Correa testing positive for COVID-19 and with top prospect Royce Lewis (knee) landing on the injured list on Monday, Palacios will come up to Minnesota in the short term to handle the 6. The team's No. 29 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, was hitting .262/.325/.376 with three home runs, 17 RBI, 25 runs scored and six stolen bases in 39 games for Triple-A St. Paul before his call-up. The 25-year-old is an excellent defensive shortstop with a bit of raw power and some speed, so he's worth a look in dynasty and AL-only leagues, but his stay with the Twins might be a short one, depending on when Correa can clear the league's COVID protocols.
