Philadelphia Phillies utility player Jesmuel Valentin started in right field and batted seventh against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night. He would go on to have the best offensive game of his early career, picking up three hits, including a solo home run in the 7-2 loss. Valentins ninth-inning blast was his first career home run as he started his first game in right field following time at left, second base, shortstop and third base. The 24-year-old was promoted by the Phillies in late April and has remained with the club ever since, seeing sporadic playing time.
