Baltimore Orioles catcher Jesus Sucre had a nice day at the plate in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Yankees, going 3-for-4 with two singles, a double, and three RBI. The 30-year-old has started behind the plate for the O's both games this season and is hitting .375. That being said, he has a career .221 batting average, so he will need to show a lot more over time to garner any fantasy attention.
Jesus Sucre With First Homer Of The Season Saturday
Tampa Bay Rays catcher Jesus Sucre hit his first homer of the season Saturday versus the Blue Jays. The shot closed the deficit to 3-2 but the Rays would be held scoreless for the rest of the game. Sucre has battled injuries and a series of catchers cycling through the major league roster to grind out 174 at-bats this season. The Rays have young talent at the position so the long-term prospects for Sucre might require changing teams. For now, he is not much of a fantasy option.
Tampa Bay Rays catcher Jesus Sucre (wrist), who has been out since Wednesday, "feels way better" and is hoping to return to the lineup on Sunday. Sucre isn't much of a fantasy option, as he's batting just .212 with no home runs and only 15 RBI in 132 at-bats for the Rays this year.
Tampa Bay Rays catcher Jesus Sucre (wrist) is dealing with a sore right wrist after a check swing on Wednesday, and the Rays will likely decide by Saturday if he will land on the disabled list. Michael Perez will likely do most of the catching if Sucre is sidelined. Perez has hit .302 with a homer and four RBI in his first 43 at-bats in the big leagues, but he'd merely be an option in deep two-catcher and AL-only leagues.
Tampa Bay Rays catcher Jesus Sucre took full advantage of his new opportunity Sunday versus Minnesota. He should see plenty of playing time in the near future. With starter Ramos looking to be out for weeks, if not months, Sucre looks to be the starter. The other two options are not world-beaters so he could hold onto the position until Ramos returns. Sucre got off to a hot start, as he drove in three runs Sunday versus Minnesota. He is only batting .229 but has driven in five runs over the last two games. He may have value in deep leagues until Ramos returns.
Jesus Sucre Starting, Wilson Ramos Sitting Wednesday
Tampa Bay Rays catcher Wilson Ramos will receive his standard day off on Wednesday. In his place catcher Jesus Sucre will be behind the plate. Sucre is finding it tough in 2018 so far, with just a .224 batting average and he has failed to hit a home run in 95 plate appearances. Sucre has been marginally better when facing right-handed pitchers this season. However, he still only has an ISO of 0.18 with a .249 wOBA and .281 slugging percentage against righties. Given his 2018 numbers Sucre offers no DFS value on Wednesday.
Tampa Bay Rays catcher Wilson Ramos will receive a day off Sunday. As per usual Ramos will sit having started the previous two games. Catcher Jesus Sucre will take his place behind the plate and hit eighth. Sucre offers no DFS value Sunday, with a .019 ISO, a .267 wOBA and a .302 slugging percentage against right-handed pitchers this season. Not even facing the New York Mets spot starter can make Sucre a play worth considering in DFS.
Tampa Bay Rays catcher Jesus Sucre had his X-rays on his left forearm come back negative. He feared it was a break. Sucre is batting .281 on the season and shares the catching duties with Wilson Ramos. Ramos is working his way back from groin problems, so Sucre started Monday. His value partially depends on whether Ramos comes back healthy soon. Sucre has some value in AL-only formats or two-catcher leagues.
Tampa Bay Rays catcher Jesus Sucre avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $925,000 contract. Sucre was eligible for arbitration for the first time. He batted .256/.289/.409 with seven dingers for the Rays in 2017.
