The Seattle Mariners signed free-agent right-hander Joey Krehbiel to a minor-league deal on Tuesday that includes an invite to major-league spring training. Krehbiel has made 70 relief appearances over parts of four years in the big leagues with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles, posting a 3.65 ERA (4.74 FIP) and 1.19 WHIP with one save, 27 walks and 57 strikeouts in 74 innings pitched. The 31-year-old only made six relief appearances for Baltimore in 2023 and allowed just one earned run while walking two and striking out five. At Triple-A Norfolk, he went 1-1 with a 3.89 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, 25 walks and 32 strikeouts in 39 1/3 relief innings. Krehbiel will represent minor-league relief depth for the M's in 2024.
Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Joey Krehbiel cleared outright waivers on Monday and accepted an assignment with Triple-A Norfolk. The 30-year-old played an important bullpen role with the O's in 2022 and was pitching well this season at Triple-A, but he was designated for assignment on May 5 to clear 40-man roster space for newly-acquired Luis Torrens. While he was a contributor last season, Krehbiel did not see enough high-leverage situations to warrant fantasy attention.

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Joey Krehbiel (shoulder) was removed from Thursday's game against the Seattle Mariners due to right shoulder discomfort. He entered in the sixth inning of the game and only faced two batters, giving up a walk and a hit, before being removed. We should have more updates on the severity of Krehbiel's injury soon. The 29-year-old has pitched to a 2.74 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP over 22 appearances this year while racking up five holds.
