Joey Rickard Hits Eighth Home Run Of Season Friday
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Joey Rickard went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 14-2 loss to the Rays. Rickard took Blake Snell deep in the sixth inning for his eighth HR of the season. The 27-year-old now has a .238/.296/.424 slash line with 23 RBI in 186 plate appearances this season. His lack of playing time and performance make him irrelevant in fantasy leagues.
The Baltimore Orioles recalled outfielder Joey Rickard from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday and designated outfielder Craig Gentry for assignment in a corresponding move. Rickard has hit just .227/.288/.420 on the season with seven home runs and 21 RBI in 150 at-bats. He's not much of a fantasy option down the stretch and will be in a platoon role in the outfield, at best.
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Joey Rickard has been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk in order to make room for Adam Jones' return from the bereavement list. Rickard had a solid season up to date for the Orioles, hitting with a .221/.284/.416 slash with 22 R, seven HR, and 21 RBI in 58 games. Rickard should not be owned in any fantasy formats even if he returns to the Orioles lineup, due to his low batting average.
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Joey Rickard went 2-for-3 with a single, a triple, and two RBI in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Rays. Rickard now has a .222/.291/.415 slash line with six home runs, 20 RBI, and two steals in 148 plate appearances. He does not hold any value in fantasy leagues at this time.
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Joey Rickard is starting in right field and batting eighth against righty Masahiro Tanaka and the New York Yankees on Tuesday. Danny Valencia will get the night off with Rickard jumping into the starting lineup. Rickard went 3-for-6 in the doubleheader on Monday, but is not an option in fantasy leagues or DFS for Tuesday.
Colby Rasmus Activated, Joey Rickard Sent Down To Triple-A
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Colby Rasmus (hip) has been reinstated from the 60-day disabled list on Thursday. In a corresponding move, the team optioned outfielder Joey Rickard down to Triple-A Norfolk. They also transferred left-handed pitcher Richard Bleier (shoulder) to the 60-day DL. Rasmus should be avoided in most leagues for the time being. During his brief time with the Orioles this season, Rasmus struck out 13 times in 21 at-bats and totaled a frightening .095 batting average. Leave him on the waiver wire for now.
Danny Valencia Sitting, Joey Rickard Starting Sunday
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Joey Rickard will start Sunday against right-handed pitcher Marco Estrada. Rickard will start in the outfielder and Jace Peterson will start at third base, as Danny Valencia misses out Sunday. Rickard has not had a great 2018, and is hitting just .208 in 26 plate appearances against right-handed pitchers. However, Rickard does have a .292 ISO and two home runs against righties in 2018. Hitting ninth means that Rickard is a player I would avoid using for DFS, despite his strong ISO against right-handed pitchers this season.
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Joey Rickard was lifted from Wednesday's game against the Angels after taking a pitch to the head. Rickard was hit above the left ear-flap by an 89 MPH fastball from Troy Scribner in the sixth inning and was subsequently removed from the game. After the contest, manager Buck Showalter said that Rickard seemed to be fine, but obviously, head injuries require an extended observation period. Rickard could be headed to the seven-day disabled list, giving Craig Gentry more of a chance in the outfield.
Trey Mancini, Joey Rickard Can’t Carry Offense in Loss
The Baltimore Orioles offense couldn't muster up much in the 8-3 loss to the Yankees on Tuesday. The top four hitters in the lineup went 1-for-18 at the plate, while the bottom of the order did the bulk of the damage. Outfielders Trey Mancini and Joey Rickard led the way, hitting a combined 5-for-7 with two RBI. Rickard doesn't see regular playing time -- he is a platoon player for Baltimore. However, he is riding a four-game hitting streak and has hit atop this potent lineup before. Mancini has traded off hot and cold streaks this season and had been cold over his past few games, so we may see another wave of offense from the young utility player.
