Minnesota Twins pitcher Jordan Balazovic is expected to remain in the team's bullpen, according to manager Rocco Baldelli. The 25-year-old was once one of the Twins' best starting pitching prospects. However, Balazovic has been primarily pitching out of the pen with the big league club. He posted a 4.44 ERA and 1.56 WHIP across 18 appearances with the Twins last season. The right-hander figures to remain a middle relief type of pitcher for Minnesota. That being said, Balazovic probably won't have much fantasy value heading into next season.
Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Jordan Balazovic has been optioned to Triple-A St. Paul in order to make room for Joe Ryan (groin), who was activated from the 15-day injured list. Balazovic owns a 4.44 ERA, 1.56 WHIP, and 17:12 K/BB over 24 1/3 innings (18 appearances) with the big-league club this season. He's got a chance to return to the team in September as the Twins continue their push to the postseason.
Minnesota Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey announced on Saturday that top-100 pitching prospect Jordan Balazovic (jaw) will miss the start of spring training for the second straight year after he suffered a broken jaw in "an altercation away from the field." He had surgery to wire his jaw shut last Sunday and is currently unavailable. It's disappointing for the Twins, especially after he had a 7.68 ERA in 72 2/3 innings between Single-A and Triple-A in 2022. Balazovic could play catch as soon as seven to 10 days, but the Twins aren't pleased with him. The 24-year-old righty pitched in the 2019 All-Star Futures Game. The former fifth-rounder is currently the team's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, but several different injuries have slowed him down in recent seasons.
Minnesota Twins prospect Jordan Balazovic threw 5 2/3 innings of no-hit ball on Wednesday at the Double-A level. He walked two and struck out six. The 22-year-old right-hander got a late start to the 2021 season due to injury and is just starting to find his consistent command. Through six starts this season, he has a 4.44 ERA in 24 1/3 innings of work. He's given up an uncharacteristically high 26 hits but his K-BB of 33-8 is impressive. Balazovic has the ceiling of a No. 2/3 starter but he's struggled to stay healthy in his career. In 2019, he pitched a career-high 93 2/3 innings with a 2.69 ERA and K-BB of 129-25. He should be ready for The Show in 2022.
