Colorado Rockies right-hander Jordan Sheffield (lat) started a rehab assignment and should return to the roster at some point in September, according to Thomas Harding of MLB.com. He has been on the injured list since June 5 after straining his right lat. Sheffield has had a decent rookie campaign out of the Rockies bullpen with a 3.26 ERA. However, he's only posted a 20.8 K% along with a 10.4 BB% and no saves or holds. He has almost no fantasy value in any league unless he starts pitching in high leverage situations after he returns.
Colorado Rockies right-hander Jordan Sheffield (lat, shoulder) will likely be back this season, according to manager Bud Black. However, Sheffield isn't expected to return anytime soon after suffering a lat/shoulder strain. The 26-year-old made his major league debut this year and had been holding his own before the injury, posting a 3.26 ERA and 0.98 WHIP while striking out 16 and walking eight in 19 relief appearances over 19 1/3 innings pitched. Sheffield doesn't have any current fantasy appeal, but he's been one of the better arms for a struggling Rockies team. As a Rule 5 selection, the Rockies will have to keep him on the active roster when he returns from his injury or return him to his previous organization.
