Jordan Yamamoto Retires From Baseball

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Jordan Yamamoto has retired from professional baseball, according to his personal Twitter account. The 26-year-old was in camp with the Dodgers on a minor league contract. Yamamoto hasn't made an appearance on an MLB mound since 2021. The right-hander put together a decent rookie campaign in 2019, but struggled after that. He'll finish his MLB career with a 6.05 ERA in 21 games (19 starts) between the Miami Marlins and New York Mets.

Jordan Yamamoto Designated For Assignment

The New York Mets have designated right-handed pitcher Jordan Yamamoto for assignment. The team selected the contract of relief pitcher Chasen Shreve to fill Yamamoto's roster spot. If Yamamoto isn't traded or claimed over the next week, the Mets can send him to Triple-A as he has a minor league option on his contract. The 25-year-old has a 6.05 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP over 96.2 innings in the majors, but he's shown some promise in the minors over the years, so it seems likely that we'll see another club take a chance on him.

Jordan Yamamoto Transferred To 60-Day Injured List

The New York Mets transferred starting pitcher Jordan Yamamoto (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list on Tuesday. Yamamoto was removed from his last start on Sunday after pitching four innings and allowing six hits, two walks and five runs (four earned). He will be out until late July at the earliest. The Mets' injuries are out of control right now. They currently have openings in their rotation for both Thursday's game against the Colorado Rockies and Friday's game against the Atlanta Braves. The Mets should be naming a starter for each of the two games soon.

Jordan Yamamoto Pulled From Sunday's Game With Sore Shoulder

New York Mets starting pitcher Jordan Yamamoto (shoulder) was removed from Sunday's game against his former team, the Miami Marlins, due to right shoulder soreness. He pitched four innings and allowed six hits, two walks and five runs (four earned) before exiting. He only managed to record two strikeouts in the game. We don't know anything about the severity of the injury at this point, but should have more information soon. Sunday's start was just his second start of the year. He's a candidate to start on Friday against the Atlanta Braves if the injury proves to be minor.

Jordan Yamamoto Traded To Mets

The New York Mets have acquired right-handed pitcher Jordan Yamamoto from the Miami Marlins for minor league infielder Federico Polanco. In 11 1/3 innings pitched for the Marlins last season, he posted an unimpressive 18.26 ERA and 3.00 WHIP over four appearances (three starts). Over his two seasons in the majors (90 IP total), Yamamoto owns a career 6.20 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. The 24-year old should serve as a rotational depth option and potential long reliever out of the Mets bullpen in 2021. Despite the small sample size, given his lack of success in the majors and projected use for 2021, Yamamoto can be ignored in most formats heading into fantasy drafts.

Jordan Yamamoto Allows 13 Runs In Under Three Innings

Miami Marlins pitcher Jordan Yamamoto set a record on Wednesday, allowing 13 runs on 11 hits and two walks in just 2 2/3 innings. Yamamoto somehow threw 94 pitches in a relief appearance and didn't even record nine outs. Brought in to mop up after started Pablo Lopez allowed seven runs in under two innings, Yamamoto made sure the Marlins would have no chance to come back in a game that ended 29-9. Yamamoto will almost certainly head back down to the Marlins alternate site after this one. He's simply not ready to go up against big league hitters at this point.

Marlins Recall Jordan Yamamoto

The Miami Marlins recalled pitcher Jordan Yamamoto from their alternate site and optioned first baseman Lewin Diaz on Tuesday. Yamamoto has struggled in his three starts with the club this year, allowing 11 runs in just 8 2/3 innings. He showed some promise last year with a 4.46 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 15 starts, so there's a chance he can have some success in the big leagues. The Marlins currently don't have a starter named for the second game in their double-header against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday, so that's where Yamamoto could make his fourth start of the year.

Jordan Yamamoto Struggles Again On Wednesday

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Jordan Yamamoto got just 10 outs in Wednesday's start against the Toronto Blue Jays. He ended up pitching 3 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks. Yamamoto showed some promising signs when he first came up last season, but he's looked quite hittable since then. He's not a recommended start in any format next week, and he's likely to be replaced in the rotation once (if?) the Marlins are back to full strength.

Jordan Yamamoto Struggles In Thursday's Start

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Jordan Yamamoto struggled in his first start of the season on Thursday, lasting just four innings while allowing four runs on six hits. He struck out four and did not allow a walk but did give up two home runs. Yamamoto got in trouble last season when he threw too many balls, so while it was nice to see him throw a lot of strikes and not even walk a single batter in this one, he looked mostly hittable, especially when pitching from the stretch. Yamamoto has shown some promising signs, but he has not been able to put it all together just yet.

Jordan Yamamoto To Start On Thursday

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Jordan Yamamoto will get the start for Thursday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. The game will be played in Baltimore, but the Marlins will be the home team as they go for a four-game sweep. Yamamoto had signs of excellence last season, but struggled with consistency and developed some control issues as the season went on. He was originally not in the starting rotation (or on the active roster) to start the season, but with 18 Marlins dealing with COVID-19, he is one of the players the team called up to get their season unpaused. He's a decent risk against an Orioles lineup that is suddenly struggling to score runs.
