Josh Rogers Rehabbing In Arizona

Colorado Rockies left-hander Josh Rogers (shoulder) made five appearances for the Rockies between May 27 and June 14, when he went on the injured list with a left rotator-cuff strain. Although an MRI exam showed there was no extensive damage to his shoulder, it was not immediately clear how soon he could return to action. "He's in Arizona, he's rehabbing," manager Bud Black said on Saturday, referring to the Rockies' training facility in Scottsdale. "He's throwing, he's doing very well, progressing. I think that in the next week or two, you might see him in a Minor League rehab game. He's doing good." The 29-year-old southpaw should begin a rehab assignment in a week or two, but there's still no timetable for him to return to the big-league bullpen. In 9 2/3 innings of relief this year, he allowed seven earned runs on 12 hits while walking two and striking out two.

Josh Rogers Signs Minors Deal With Rockies

The Colorado Rockies have signed pitcher Josh Rogers to a minor-league deal. The 29-year-old didn't appear in the big leagues in the 2023 season but rather spent the campaign with Triple-A Albuquerque in the Rockies organization. He made 30 appearances (13 starts) for the Isotopes but struggled mightily to an 8.02 ERA (and 7.82 FIP) across 104 1/3 innings of work, striking out just 13.1% of his opponents. He also struggled mightily with the home run ball by way of a massive 2.67 HR/9 clip. He made six starts of 3.28 ERA ball with the Nationals in 2021 but owns a 5.42 ERA across 30 outings (12 starts) and 88 innings of big-league work split between the Orioles and Nationals.

Josh Rogers Likely To Start Monday

With Washington Nationals starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez (neck) now doubtful to make his season debut on Monday at the Atlanta Braves, left-hander Josh Rogers is the likeliest candidate to take the bump in Sanchez's absence. Sanchez has been dealing with stiffness in his next the last few days, and the 38-year-old could require a stint on the injured list early on. The right-hander didn't pitch in the majors at all last year and wasn't any good in 2020 for the Nats, so he belongs on the waiver wire in mixed leagues. Rogers lost out on a rotation spot to begin the year to Joan Adon, but he could wind up in the rotation anyway thanks to Sanchez's injury. The 27-year-old has a 5.55 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and a weak 12% strikeout rate in just 14 big-league outings (nine starts) in three major league seasons, so he won't be a high-priority addition in fantasy leagues.

Josh Rogers Allows Four Runs In Final Start

Washington Nationals starting pitcher Josh Rogers made his final start of 2022 Friday against the Boston Red Sox, and he gave up four runs on seven hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out three batters. Rogers cruised through his first five frames once again before allowing two home runs in the sixth inning. He finishes with a 3.28 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 35 2/3 innings, playing himself into streaming consideration, but his 22 strikeouts keep him from having much high-end upside.

Josh Rogers Melts Down In Fifth Inning Sunday

Washington Nationals starting pitcher Josh Rogers was off to another outstanding start Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds, putting up four scoreless innings, but he melted down in the fifth and finished his day with three runs allowed on seven hits and four walks in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out three batters and gave up two home runs in his first loss of the year. Rogers has been a revelation down the stretch, and while fantasy managers in playoff situations will be loathe to trust him, he may have played himself into streaming consideration for 2022.

Josh Rogers Continues Surprise Excellence

Washington Nationals starting pitcher Josh Rogers put together his best outing yet on Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks in 7 2/3 innings against the Miami Marlins. He struck out four batters and gave up one home run as he raised his record to 2-0 in the 7-1 victory. Rogers has seemingly come out of nowhere to record a 2.16 ERA in 25 innings over four starts. It's hard to trust the young lefty, but he's given no indication that fantasy managers should do otherwise.

Josh Rogers Allows One Hit In Five Innings Wednesday

Washington Nationals starting pitcher Josh Rogers made his third start of the year Wednesday night against the Miami Marlins, and it was his finest yet. Rogers allowed just one hit and one walk in five innings of work, striking out six batters. He's now allowed just five runs through the first 17 1/3 innings of his season. Fantasy managers needn't rush to the waiver wire for Rogers, but he's worth keeping an eye on as he figures to make a few more starts through the end of the season

Josh Rogers Delivers Quality Start

Washington Nationals starting pitcher Josh Rogers made his second start of the season Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and he delivered a quality start, allowing two runs on eight hits and one walk in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out one batter. Rogers has now allowed five runs over 12 1/3 innings in two games this season. Despite the solid performances, Rogers doesn't deserve much attention in fantasy, though he seems primed to stick in the rotation the rest of the way.

Josh Rogers Selected, Starting Saturday

The Washington Nationals have selected the contract of left-hander Josh Rogers, and he will start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the New York Mets. Rogers last appeared in the majors in 2019 with the Baltimore Orioles and has a career 8.65 ERA across 26 innings. In the minor leagues this season, he has a 4.48 ERA with 63 strikeouts in 90.1 innings. He doesn't offer much upside and fantasy managers should leave him on the waiver wire, even against a struggling Mets lineup.

David Hess Moved To Bullpen, Josh Rogers To Start Wednesday

The Baltimore Orioles are moving starting pitcher David Hess to the bullpen for the second time this season. Josh Rogers will start in his place on Wednesday against the A's. Manager Brandon Hyde said the team will likely play with the No. 5 spot in the rotation the rest of the year. Hess is 1-9 with a 7.20 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, 53 K's, 27 walks and a league-high 20 home runs allowed in 65 innings (13 starts, one relief outing), so this move was long overdue. Rogers has a 7.88 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in eight innings of relief for Baltimore this year. He had an even worse 8.49 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and 4.6 K/9 in three starts in 2018, so he should not be a streaming option next week in any league.
