The Los Angeles Angels will recall reliever Junichi Tazawa as one of their September call-ups. Tazawa has had an ugly season, sporting a 9.00 ERA in 20 big league innings. He is nothing more than middle relief depth, and should not be owned in any fantasy formats.
Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Junichi Tazawa has been released. Tazawa posted a 9.39 ERA in seven relief appearances for Triple-A Toledo and never got called up to the bigs. Tazawa will likely struggle to find another home and we may have seen the last of him as a major league pitcher.
The Detroit Tigers announced Monday that they have signed veteran reliever Junichi Tazawa to a minor league deal. The veteran righty appeared in 22 games this season for the Miami Marlins before being released on May 22. He holds a 9.00 ERA on the season, the worst of his career. Tazawa has been on the decline since 2014 when he appeared in 71 games for the Red Sox, pitching to a 2.86 ERA on the back of a 9.1 K/9 rate.
Free-agent relief pitcher Junichi Tazawa has signed a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers on Monday. He was released by the Marlins after posting a 9.00 ERA, 2.05 WHIP and 24/13 K/BB ratio through 20 innings this season. He'll likely be headed to Triple-A Toledo but could be pitching in the Tigers bullpen at some point this season. He should be left on the waiver wire in all leagues.
