Nationals Place Justin Miller on 10-Day Injured List

Washington Nationals relief pitcher Justin Miller has been put on the 10-day injured list due to a right rotator cuff strain. In a corresponding move, relief pitcher Tanner Rainey has been called up from Triple-A Fresno. Miller has had a solid start to the season before this injury, picking up one win with a 4.02 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings. Miller should not be owned in any fantasy formats.

Justin Miller Records Save Monday

Nationals relief pitcher Justin Miller earned a save Monday in Philadelphia. Miller was called upon after Ryan Madson pitched the eighth and recorded a clean ninth. Madson had just been activated from the disabled list earlier in the day so it shouldn't have been shocking to see him in a lower leverage situation. Going forward, with Kelvin Herrera out for the year and Sean Doolittle out indefinitely, it seems like the Nationals will be going with a committee mostly based on health. Koda Glover, Justin Miller, and Ryan Madson could all be in line for saves going forward.

Justin Miller Has Been Untouchable Since Joining The Nationals

No one thought much of the news that Justin Miller was back in The Show when he was called up by the Nationals in late May. However, he's turned himself into a whole new pitcher, and the results are shining through. In seven different relief appearances, Miller hasn't give up a single earned run. Or even a single walk. He's struck out 17 batters in just 9 innings pitched, for some stupid impressive numbers: 0.00 ERA, 0.11 WHIP, and a 17.0 K/9 rate. He's only give up a single hit! It's a small sample size, sure, but if he continues to be this stingy, he may find himself working higher leverage situations sooner rather than later.
