Mark Reynolds Announces Retirement

Free-agent first baseman/third baseman Mark Reynolds announced his retirement on MLB Network Radio on Thursday. It will conclude a career that lasted 13 seasons, including stops in Arizona, Baltimore, Cleveland, New York, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Colorado and Washington. Reynolds was taken in the 16th round in the 2004 draft by the Diamondbacks, and he spent the first four years of his career in the desert. The 36-year-old had his best year in 2009 with the D-backs, hitting .260 with a career-high 44 home runs, 102 RBI and 24 stolen bases in 155 games. In 6,243 career plate appearances, Reynolds hit .236/.328/.453 with 298 home runs, 253 doubles, 871 RBI and 64 stolen bases. There was a lot of swing and miss to his game, but he did have 30-plus homers in three straight seasons from 2009 to 2011.

Mark Reynolds Has Been Designated for Assignment

Colorado Rockies first baseman Mark Reynolds has been designated for assignment by the organization on Sunday. The veteran slugger hit .170/.290/.311 with four home runs and 20 RBI this season. He's only a few homers shy of the 300 mark for his career, so hopefully he'll get another chance elsewhere. Fantasy owners can go ahead and ignore Reynolds, even if he does land on another team.

Mark Reynolds Knocks In Winning Run

Colorado Rockies first baseman Mark Reynolds was the hero on Tuesday in Boston as he smacked a game-winning single in the 11th inning of a game Colorado should have lost. The Rockies overcame a 17-strikeout performance by Chris Sale to send the game into extra innings, and Reynolds came through in the clutch. Reynolds has recently gotten an uptick in playing time due to Daniel Murphy coming back a bit slowly from his thumb injury, but Reynolds is still playing pretty terribly overall, hitting just .195 and striking out 34% of the time. With a bevy of young talent waiting for playing time, it's ridiculous that Reynolds sees the field, but if he goes on one of his famous hot streaks, he'll suddenly become fantasy-interesting for a couple of weeks. He's not there yet though.

Mark Reynolds Homers In Rare Start

Colorado Rockies first baseman Mark Reynolds took advantage of the chance to make a start by drilling a two-run home run in the fifth inning of Monday's game against the Nationals. Reynolds was hired to be a bench bat, but he's gotten a bit more playing time while original starting first baseman Daniel Murphy was on the disabled list with a thumb injury. With Murphy on the cusp of returning, Reynolds' playing time is expected to diminish dramatically while Ryan McMahon and Garrett Hampson juggle the second base duties. Reynolds will likely still provide some pop off the bench, but it probably won't come regularly enough for any fantasy leagues to employ him.

Mark Reynolds Hits Pinch-Hit Home Run

Colorado Rockies first baseman Mark Reynolds was a controversial player that was kept on the roster over a bevy of young talent that exists in the Rockies farm system, but the thought was that it would be good to have a veteran bat off the bench. That came through in spades on Monday as Reynolds came to the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning and ripped a two-run home run to put Colorado on the board. The team would still end up losing their eighth game in nine contests, but Reynolds was then present in the clubhouse to try to help get everyone out of their funk. Reynolds told reporters that the team's offensive woes were because everyone was trying to do too much, and they were working on calming down and just letting things come to them. If he can provide that type of leadership and help pull the team out of this funk, he's more than worth his spot.

Mark Reynolds Struggles In Limited Time

Colorado Rockies first baseman Mark Reynolds went 0-for-3 in another tough evening against the Dodgers, lowering his batting average to just .176 so far this year. He did successfully tally his first RBI, but he's still only got one extra-base hit on the season and is just one for his last 12 at the plate. The good news is that basically every other Colorado player has been bad as well, but that doesn't make Reynolds any better. With Daniel Murphy sidelined with a finger injury, this is Reynolds' golden opportunity, but it's looking like it unfortunately came during one of his famous cold snaps. Reynolds can be valuable if he goes on a hot streak, but otherwise, he shouldn't be owned.

Mark Reynolds To See More Action

Colorado Rockies first baseman Mark Reynolds was initially kept on the roster so he could serve as a bench bat for the team, but hes quickly finding himself in a more regular role with first baseman Daniel Murphy on the injured list due to a finger injury. Reynolds is only a couple years removed from a 30-homer season -- that coincidentally happened during his last stint with the Rockies -- so he could provide some pop even if hes 35 years old. With that said, it seems crowded on the right side of the infield as Ryan McMahon, Garrett Hampsonand Pat Valaika are also competing for at-bats between first and second base.

Mark Reynolds Makes Rockies Roster

The Colorado Rockies have informed Mark Reynolds that he has made the Opening Day roster for the major league squad. The 35-year-old was a surprising keep for the team since their high minor leagues are overflowing with top-rated prospects, but they have shown a tendency to stick with veterans over giving their younger players more time. Reynolds batted .248 with 13 home runs in 206 at-bats last season with the Nationals, but he hit 30 home runs and batted .267 with the Rockies two years ago. Reynolds is expected to serve as a bat off the bench this season with an occasional start against lefties due to match-ups and to let starting first baseman Daniel Murphy get some rest.

Mark Reynolds Starting on Friday

Washington Nationals corner infielder Mark Reynolds will join the Nats starting lineup for Friday's game against the Miami Marlins. Reynolds will bat seventh and play third base against righty Pablo Lopez. Anthony Rendon has been placed on the paternity leave list, so he'll miss the beginning of the weekend series versus the Marlins. Reynolds is a sleeper DFS option on Friday.

Mark Reynolds Explodes for 10 RBI in Monster Game against Marlins

Washington Nationals first baseman Mark Reynolds had arguably the greatest game of his career against the Marlins on Saturday, going five-for-five with two home runs, three runs scored and 10 RBI. He's the first person since Scooter Gennett in 2017 and just the 17th player overall to record 10 RBI in a game. Reynolds is now hitting .292 with 10 home runs and 24 RBI on the season. Reynolds was a player no one wanted all offseason, but he arguably had the best offensive game of the year thus far. He's earned some more starts at first with his performance and is worth a pickup in deeper leagues.
