Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Matt Albers earned his fourth save of the season Wednesday despite walking the bases loaded. Albers walked three of the five batters he faced but escaped the jam to preserve a 6-5 win for the Brewers. Josh Hader has allowed runs in five of his last six appearances including three blown saves so Albers was given an opportunity and just barely converted it. Albers has a 3.86 ERA on the season, but a 24.3 percent strikeout rate and a walk rate near nine percent are a little high for a closer. Ultimately the Brewers would like to get Hader right so Albers' value is limited to the deepest roto leagues and formats that value holds.
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Matt Albers (hamstring) has been activated from the disabled list on Tuesday. He missed the last couple of weeks due to a hamstring issue. Albers threw three scoreless innings without issues, so he should resume his role in middle relief for the Brewers. Reliever Joakim Soria (groin) should be activated off the disabled list later this week.
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Matt Albers (shoulder) is scheduled to begin his rehab assignment at Class A on Wednesday. Albers has been on the 10-day disabled list since June 12, but hopefully will be back in the Brewers bullpen soon. Albers should not be owned in most leagues, but could be an option in leagues that value saves. He'll likely need to make a few rehab appearances before rejoining the Brewers pen.
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Matt Albers' injury he received on June 11 has officially been diagnosed as shoulder inflammation. Albers was placed on the 10-day disabled list on June 12. He will not undergo an MRI and will take a couple of days off from throwing to see if his injury can resolve itself. If there is still some discomfort after the break from throwing, he will most likely undergo an MRI to see if there is an underlying issue. He's safe to drop in all formats.
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Matt Albers (shoulder) has been placed on the 10-day disabled list. The Brewers have recalled Jorge Lopez from Triple-A Colorado Springs to take the spot on the active roster. Albers was roughed up his last couple of outings, but he was pitching well overall this season. He won't have many save chances with the Brewers bullpen healthy. Most fantasy owners can go ahead and drop Albers.
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Matt Albers threw a perfect inning with one strikeout in the 4-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. While Albers blew his chance to save the game after allowing four base runners and one unearned run in an appearance against the Reds, he has been a very solid reliever behind Jeremy Jeffress, Josh Hader and Corey Knebel on the depth chart. On the year, he has a 1.23 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched. He makes an appealing candidate in holds formats, despite being quite low on the Brewers depth chart.
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Matt Albers allowed a walk-off home run in the 3-2 loss to the New York Mets in 2/3 of an inning. This was in a non-save situation, however, the last day he pitched was on April 11, so this was most likely to just get some work in. Despite Josh Hader getting a two-inning save last night, Albers still remains the best candidate for saves in the Brewers bullpen and this game now puts his ERA at 2.16 with seven strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings pitched.
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Matt Albers went two-thirds of an inning, giving up two hits and striking out one to secure the 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. Albers took over after Josh Hader gave up a leadoff home run to Tommy Pham and despite giving up two hits, the moment Albers came out of the bullpen, he managed to get the next two outs without an earned run coming in. Albers is now at a 1.17 ERA with six strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings pitched and looks to be the most promising candidate for saves until Corey Knebel comes back, especially after the three blown saves by the Brewers on Tuesday. The job looks pretty secure in Albers' favor now, so add him if you can if he remains available in your league.
Matt Albers Blows Save But Gets Win Against Cardinals
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Matt Albers went two innings and gave up three hits, one earned run and got two strikeouts in the 5-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Albers came in with a 4-3 lead in the ninth and gave up an outfield single, an infield single and a bunt single to three of the Cardinals hitters. Eventually, one of the runners scored on a sacrifice fly and Albers was hit with the blown save. Albers came out for the 10th inning and rolled through the top of the order for the Cardinals and got himself the victory. This may get Brewers manager Craig Counsell thinking twice before he puts Albers out in the ninth, however, Albers remains one of the best options for saves in the Brewers bullpen with Corey Knebel out for six weeks. Albers now has a 1.50 ERA in six innings pitched and is a great add for those desperate for saves.
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Matt Albers went two innings, giving up a hit and a walk while striking out two in the 5-4 win over the Chicago Cubs. For anyone who picked up Albers expecting to get saves, he definitely provided some value in other ways tonight earning fantasy owners a win. It is every man for himself in the Brewers bullpen right now to earn save opportunities, and Albers has put himself in good standing with this outing tonight. He now holds a 0.00 ERA in five innings pitched thus far this season.
