Nick Dini Knocks Two Hits On Thursday

Kansas City Royals catcher Nick Dini doubled and singled in Thursday's game against the Tigers, giving him his first multi-hit game of his career. Dini's only hitting .200 so far, but he's got an on-base percentage that is approaching .300 and has had a knack for scoring runs, crossing the plate nine times in his last nine games. Dini was quite a successful hitter in Triple-A this season, so the team has high hopes for what he can do at the major league level. That said, it's a short tryout as All-Star Salvador Perez is expected back next spring. Hopefully, Dini can take full advantage of his month in the bigs this year and be ready to be the team's backup next season.

Nick Dini Records First Major League Hit

Kansas City Royals rookie catcher Nick Dini made his major league debut on Thursday, and he laced a single to left in the top of the sixth to rack up his first major league hit. Dini is a pretty solid offensive catcher who was hitting .296 with 13 home runs in Triple-A this year before getting the call, and he should get quite a bit of use while Cam Gallagher is on the shelf. Since there's no timetable for Gallagher's return, Dini's stay could be throughout the fantasy playoffs. For those who have a zero at catcher, Dini could be a solid short-term pickup to help finish out the year.
