Nick Plummer News
The Cincinnati Reds signed free-agent outfielder Nick Plummer to a minor-league deal this week. Plummer made his major-league debut last year with the New York Mets, going 4-for-29 (.138) with two home runs, six RBI, four runs scored and 12 strikeouts in 31 plate appearances over just 14 games. The 26-year-old former first-rounder (23rd overall) by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2015 has produced a .223/.359/.361 slash line, .720 OPS, 40 home runs, 193 RBI, 268 runs scored and 50 stolen bases in six seasons in the minor leagues. Plummer has a chance to earn more big-league at-bats with the rebuilding Reds, but there's still a pretty good chance he'll begin the 2023 campaign down on the farm.
New York Mets outfielder Nick Plummer continues to make his presence felt since being called up to the big league team. After hitting a game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth inning off Phillies closer Corey Knebel on Sunday, Plummer had a monster game Monday, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, four RBI, and two runs scored. Playing time has been available with Brandon Nimmo injured, but Plummer is sure to stick on the roster, and could carve out a solid role for himself against righties. He isn't a fantasy add just yet.
The New York Mets have agreed to a one-year major-league contract with outfielder Nick Plummer, according to MLB.com. Plummer, 25, has no big-league experience but slashed .280/.415/.479 with 15 HRs and 13 SBs across 117 games in 2021, split between Double and Triple-A with the St. Louis Cardinals organization. The former first-round pick back in 2015 became a free agent after the Cardinals didn't add him to their 40-man roster. The move doesn't have much fantasy impact, as Plummer is more of a depth option in the outfield. If the Mets struggle with outfield injuries, he could be a deep league, mid-season pick-up option.
