Noel Cuevas To Injured List, Yonathan Daza Recalled
The Colorado Rockies have made a pair of moves Tuesday to adjust their roster due to an injury. Outfielder Noel Cuevas, who was recently promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque, suffered a strained left quadriceps and has gone on the injured list. The 27-year-old appeared in 75 games last season, hitting .233. As a result, Yonathan Daza has been recalled after he was originally sent down in place of Cuevas. Daza is a career .310 hitter in the minor leagues, having hit .306 with 29 RBI in a 54-game Double-A stint last season. He'll strictly be outfield depth in the majors for Colorado.
Colorado Rockies outfielder Noel Cuevas left the game in the fourth inning on Monday with a leg injury. Cuevas was making his season debut after being called up from the minors before the day. He was hitless in his two plate appearances before departing. Cuevas and Raimel Tapia were set to share playing time in the outfield under David Dahl (core) returns from the injured list, which could come later this week.
Colorado Rockies rookie outfielder Noel Cuevas took a trip back to Albuquerque on Sunday as his spot was taken by first baseman Ryan McMahon. Cuevas hasn't performed too poorly in the majors this year, hitting .241 with a pair of home runs in 138 at-bats, but the team is scheduled to face seven straight right-handed starting pitchers in the near future and are dealing with injuries on the right side of the infield as opposed to the outfield. This is the perfect situation for McMahon to see some big-league time, so Cuevas will grab some at-bats at the lower level. Expect Cuevas to see the majors again later this season.
Tasked with carrying the team after the top end of the order was terrible on Saturday, Colorado Rockies rookie outfielder Noel Cuevas came through in a huge way. Cuevas went 3-for-4 on the day and put the game away with him 3-run blast off James Paxton in the seventh inning. It was Cuevas' first home run in nearly two months, and it would prove to be the game-winner. Cuevas has proven he can hit at the major league level, but his scattered playing time has held him back from truly being a breakout player. Hitting .267 so far, Cuevas will likely be in the mix for regular playing time next year, but he's probbly more valuable as a real-life asset than a fantasy one.
Colorado Rockies outfielder Noel Cuevas got the start on Tuesday night and took advantage by popping a pair of doubles against the Mets. Cuevas has mostly been relegated to pinch-hit duty while getting a couple starts a week to give veterans some rest, but the limited usage has started to drag down his batting average. Cuevas has shown serious potential as an on-base specialist, but playing-time issues will likely limit his value for this season unless some injuries arise.
Noel Cuevas Starting, Carlos Gonzalez Sitting Sunday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Noel Cuevas will draw the start in the outfield Sunday. Cuevas will hit seventh with outfielder Carlos Gonzalez receiving a day off. Cuevas has performed reasonably well for the Rockies in 2018. Overall, he has a .297 batting average with one home run in 78 plate appearances. Against right-handed pitching he has a .313 batting average with a double and a triple. Hitting seventh makes Cuevas a tough DFS play Sunday, but he is starting against Zack Godley, who has struggled in 2018.
Colorado Rockies rookie outfielder Noel Cuevas hasnt gotten nearly as much fanfare or love from the fantasy community as fellow late call-up David Dahl, but hes actually been the more productive of the two youngsters. Maintaining an average of .308, Cuevas has proven himself to be a reliable on-base threat, and hes been especially successful in clutch situations. Cuevas has been used as a pinch hitter 17 times so far, and hes successfully smacked a hit in six of those occasions. With Dahl hitting the DL once again, Cuevas should see an uptick in his playing time.
Colorado Rockies rookie outfielder Noel Cuevas is battling for regular playing time with the glut of outfielders, and he continues to shine at just about every turn. Friday, he was the critical piece as he pinch hit for starting pitcher Jon Gray in a tie game in the 6th inning. Cuevas had catcher Tony Wolters on second and needed to come through. He did in spades. Cuevas ripped a triple that would easily score Wolters and put Colorado on top for good. Cuevas has brought a dependable light-hitting bat to Colorados lineup, hitting .302 in his limited action so far, and he should continue to see regular turns in the rotation in the outfield.
Colorado Rockies rookie outfielder Noel Cuevas had a nice Sunday as he pushed in a pair of runs with a single and critical walk. Cuevas has been working a time-share with Gerardo Parra, Carlos Gonzalez, and David Dahl, but hes carrying the highest batting average and on-base percentage of the quartet. Unfortunately, hes only got one hit of the extra-base variety, but his on-base skills are keeping him in regular rotation. He probably wont see full-time playing time unless some injuries occur, but it looks like hes put himself in a good position for the future.
In what could be one of his last starts for a while, Colorado Rockies rookie outfielder Noel Cuevas took advantage of the opportunity and knocked three singles into play. Unfortunately, he would later get picked off second in one of those instances, but he at least got to set a personal record for most hits in a game in his young career. Carlos Gonzalez is expected to take over for Cuevas on Tuesday, and Cuevas will likely operate as the teams fifth outfielder for the time being. It wouldnt be surprising if the rookie gets sent back down to Triple-A sometime in the near future since the outfield is already stacked with CarGo, Charlie Blackmon, Gerardo Parra, and David Dahl.
