Noel Cuevas News
The Colorado Rockies have made a pair of moves Tuesday to adjust their roster due to an injury. Outfielder Noel Cuevas, who was recently promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque, suffered a strained left quadriceps and has gone on the injured list. The 27-year-old appeared in 75 games last season, hitting .233. As a result, Yonathan Daza has been recalled after he was originally sent down in place of Cuevas. Daza is a career .310 hitter in the minor leagues, having hit .306 with 29 RBI in a 54-game Double-A stint last season. He'll strictly be outfield depth in the majors for Colorado.
Colorado Rockies outfielder Noel Cuevas left the game in the fourth inning on Monday with a leg injury. Cuevas was making his season debut after being called up from the minors before the day. He was hitless in his two plate appearances before departing. Cuevas and Raimel Tapia were set to share playing time in the outfield under David Dahl (core) returns from the injured list, which could come later this week.
Colorado Rockies rookie outfielder Noel Cuevas took a trip back to Albuquerque on Sunday as his spot was taken by first baseman Ryan McMahon. Cuevas hasn't performed too poorly in the majors this year, hitting .241 with a pair of home runs in 138 at-bats, but the team is scheduled to face seven straight right-handed starting pitchers in the near future and are dealing with injuries on the right side of the infield as opposed to the outfield. This is the perfect situation for McMahon to see some big-league time, so Cuevas will grab some at-bats at the lower level. Expect Cuevas to see the majors again later this season.
