Pedro Florimon Hits DL With Broken Foot

After exiting Tuesday nights game with a foot injury, the worst fears have been realized for Philadelphia Phillies infielder Pedro Florimon. The 31-year-old suffered a broken foot when he fouled a ball off of it in the first inning of the victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers. As a result of his injury and subsequent disabled list stint, the club announced that Mitch Walding will be promoted from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 25-year-old has spent the past seven seasons in the minor leagues, hitting 25 home runs at Double-A Reading last season. It's unlikely he'll see enough playing time to be fantasy relevant.

Pedro Florimon Exits After Apparent Injury

The Philadelphia Phillies had to go to their bench early on Tuesday night against the Dodgers in Los Angeles. With Rhys Hoskins out, infielder Pedro Florimon (foot) batted second and started at third. In the very first inning, however, he fouled a ball off his foot and would not emerge from the dugout to play defense in the bottom of the frame. Maikel Franco, who was originally scheduled to have the night off, took over at third base. At this point, there are no further updates on Florimons status, but well provide them as soon as they emerge.

Pedro Florimon Homers, Pitches In Blowout Loss

The Philadelphia Phillies were soundly defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night after a lengthy rain delay pushed the games start time back over an hour and a half. The pitching staff was rocked, with Jake Arrieta, Drew Hutchison and Yacksel Rios combining to surrender 12 runs on 15 hits through seven innings. Entering the eighth, manager Gabe Kapler opted to rest his remaining relievers and sent out veteran infielder Pedro Florimon to get his clubs final three defensive outs of the night. The 31-year-old was the most successful pitcher of the night, retiring all three batters he faced and tossing 14 pitches. As if that wasn't enough, he stepped up to the plate in the top of the ninth and delivered a home run for good measure.

Pedro Florimon Smacks Late Home Run

Entering Thursdays game as a defensive replacement at shortstop in the seventh inning, Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Pedro Florimon came up big in a dire situation. The Phillies held a two-run lead heading into the ninth inning while facing questions about the closer situation. After having scored a run his first time up in the eighth, the 31-year-old stepped up in the ninth inning with a runner on. He delivered a two-run home run to right field, extending his clubs lead to four runs. The shot provided two important insurance runs for the bullpen, which was fresh off surrendering two runs.

Pedro Florimon Records Two Hits In Victory

Starting once again at shortstop in the absence of JP Crawford, veteran infielder Pedro Florimon played a significant role in the Philadelphia Phillies victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. The 31-year-old, who was batting seventh, played a prominent role in the clubs big sixth inning, connecting on an RBI single to left than increased his clubs lead as they continued their comeback. It was one of two hits for Florimon, as he continues to excel, hitting .375 over his past seven games. Regardless, dont expect him to earn additional playing time as a result, with Crawfords starting job not in any danger.

Pedro Florimon Drives In Run In Victory

Starting on Wednesday due to Scott Kingerys elbow discomfort, Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Pedro Florimon certainly did not disappoint in his clubs 6-0 victory over the Miami Marlins. The veteran, who was batting seventh, recorded two hits and an RBI while also scoring a run himself. Florimon, 31, is into his second season with the Phillies, his fourth professional club in eight seasons. If Kingery misses additional time, the Dominican will likely be the choice to see more time at short.

Pedro Florimon Suffers Nasty Injury

Rhys Hoskins wasn't the only member of the Philadelphia Phillies to suffer an injury tonight in the club's defeat to the Miami Marlins. Pedro Florimon, the utility man who has taken full advantage of his brief stint with the club this year, also exited the game with a major injury. The 30-year-old suffered a dislocated right ankle while running to first base, immediately grimacing in pain. The injury indeed looked rather serious, with a broken ankle being predicted from the start. Florimon has been terrific for the Phillies at the plate and with his ability to play multiple positions, having seen action in the outfield, second base, third base and shortstop. At the plate, he's hitting .333 with six RBI in just 14 games. His season has been declared over with the timetable for his recovery unknown.
