Outfielder Phillip Ervin was claimed off of the waiver wire by the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, adding to the clubs outfield mix. Ervin had been designated for assignment by the Reds last Friday after opening the year 3-for-35 at the plate. Used primarily against left-handed pitching, Ervin has Kd in seven of 14 at-bats versus righties this year. For the Mariners, theyll be banking on Ervins upside (.797 OPS in 2019) as he joins the outfield mix. Hes unlikely to get everyday at-bats out of the gate, but could play his way into a larger role, making him a name that fantasy managers will want to keep on their respective radars.
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Phillip Ervin had a huge night in a 17-9 win over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. Ervin went a perfect 6-for-6 at the plate, picking up a double, a triple, one run, three RBI, and a steal. The big game raises Ervin's average to .357 to go along with one homer, seven runs, nine RBI, and one steal in 56 at-bats. The 26-year-old doesn't play every day for the Reds but he could start seeing his name in the lineup more frequently after Saturday. He will be a decent option in DFS contests in Coors Field on Sunday if he gets another start.
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Phillip Ervin has been recalled from Triple-A Louisville and will bat fifth Saturday against the Rangers. This will be Ervin's first major league start since May 22. In 40 Triple-A games this year, Ervin has an OPS of .866 with six home runs and six stolen bases. For his big league career, Ervin owns an .873 OPS against left-handed pitching versus just .676 when facing right-handed pitchers. When platooning against lefties such as Saturday against Mike Minor, Ervin is a strong low-cost daily fantasy option.
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Phillip Ervin has been recalled. In a corresponding move, starting pitcher Cody Reed has been sent to Triple-A Louisville. On the season, Ervin has appeared in seven games this season posting a .200/.385/.400 slash with one run, and one RBI. Ervin should not be owned in any fantasy formats.
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Phillip Ervin provided half of his team's offense in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Cubs, going 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk. Ervin took a fourth-inning Jose Quintana fastball deep to left-center field for his seventh HR of the season. The 26-year-old has done a decent job since receiving routine playing time but is hitting just .186 in September. However, he also has three HR and six RBI in that time frame as well as a .185 BABIP, so he may be able to turn things around in the remaining few weeks.
Phillip Ervin Hits Two Home Runs, Drives In Four Friday
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Phillip Ervin had a monster day at the plate in Friday's 12-6 win over the Padres, going 3-for-4 with a bunt single, two home runs, a walk, and four RBI. It was the 26-year-old's first multihomer game of his career. Ervin has been solid since receiving everyday playing time, hitting .302 with six HR, 26 RBI, and three stolen bases in 144 plate appearances since the All-Star break. He is worth a look in dynasty leagues and would have been worth a look in single-season leagues earlier in the season, but at this point, fantasy playoff teams are likely set with their rosters.
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Phillip Ervin went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Saturday's win against the Diamondbacks. The 26-year-old has taken advantage of his everyday role since the All-Star break, posting a .367/.414/.612 slash line with two home runs and 12 RBI in 58 plate appearances. His .444 BABIP over that time period is not sustainable, but still, Ervin has proved to be a consistent contributor so far and is worth a look in deep leagues or five-outfielder leagues.
