Ramon Torres News

Ramon Torres Smacks Little League Home Run

Kansas City Royals infielder Ramon Torres played his first game of 2018 on Thursday, and he was the catalyst for one of the most exciting moments in the game. Torres hit a seeing-eye single up the middle that was promptly missed entirely by Delino DeShields and rolled out far enough to allow Torres to fly around the diamond and score. Torres is nothing more than an ancillary infielder for the time being, but his contact skills could get him regular looks when the starters get days off. Expect him to compete with Raul Mondesi for one of the middle infield spots either late this season or next year.

Ramon Torres Added To Royals Roster

Kansas City Royals infielder Ramon Torres has been called up by the Royals on Saturday. Torres will take the spot of Cheslor Cuthbert (back) who has been placed on the disabled list. In 2018, Torres has hit .229 with four steals in 167 plate appearances at Triple-A Omaha. Torres did have a stint with the Royals in 2018. In that stint, he hit .243 with one stolen base in 79 PAs. Torres should only see limited playing time with the Royals, and will likely be sent back to Triple-A when Cuthbert is ready to return. For these reasons, Torres is not someone that fantasy owners should be looking to add at this stage.

Ramon Torres Draws Third Straight Start

The Kansas City Royals will give infielder Ramon Torres his third straight start. The rookie has performed well over his first 32 at-bats with 12 hits and seven runs. Torres will bat second tonight and play second base. Infielder/outfielder Whit Merrifield will start in right field tonight and outfielder Jorge Bonifacio will have the night off. Torres has been hot since his debut and is worth consideration in daily leagues.

Alex Gordon Sits and Ramon Torres Will Start

Kansas City Royals outfielder Alex Gordon will sit on Wednesday, a normal day off, with second baseman Whit Merrifield moving to left field and Ramon Torres starting at second base. Gordon hit his first home run of the season yesterday and should be back in the lineup tomorrow. For the most part, Gordon has been dreadful at the plate, hitting just .177 on the season and having only had three multi-hit games all year. However, maybe this home run can wake him up. The good news is that his walk rate is still strong at 10.3 percent, and he's cut his strikeout rate by 11.5 percent from last season. He has a ways to go before he becomes fantasy-relevant for the majority of fantasy owners, though. Torres was called up from Triple-A Omaha today and has a .327 batting average for the Storm Chasers this season.
