Ryan Carpenter To Start Tuesday

The Detroit Tigers will call up starting pitcher Ryan Carpenter to make the start on Tuesday against the Indians. The 28-year-old southpaw is 1-5 for Detroit this year with an unsightly 8.36 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 25 K's in 37 2/3 innings over his eight starts at the big league level. It's likely to just be a spot start, and Carpenter should be safely avoided in mostly all fantasy leagues on Tuesday.

Ryan Carpenter Demoted, Grayson Greiner Placed On Injured List

The Detroit Tigers optioned starting pitcher Ryan Carpenter to Triple-A Toledo after another unsuccessful start on Friday against the Indians. The team also placed catcher Grayson Greiner (back) on the 10-day injured list with a lower back strain. Carpenter gave up eight runs (six earned) while walking four and striking out only two in three innings against Cleveland and he's 1-4 with a rough 8.82 ERA while allowing 47 hits in 32 2/3 innings and walking 11 and fanning 21 in seven starts. He can be dropped everywhere. Greiner suffered his injury taking swings before the game. He was hitting .162 in 169 plate appearances and wasn't a fantasy option. Bobby Wilson will be called up from Toledo to serve as the backup to John Hicks.

Ryan Carpenter Goes Seven Strong Innings

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Ryan Carpenter was fantastic against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night. The 28-year-old lefty scattered seven hits and struck out three over a career-high seven innings of work. His only real mistake was leaving a 1-1 pitch up over the plate, which Avisail Garcia made him pay for by depositing it over the right field fence for a two-run homer -- the only runs that the rookie gave up on the night. He has now permitted no more than two runs over his last three outings, although keeping the ball in the park has been a problem in each of his five starts and he has now allowed seven long balls in 26 innings of work. Carpenter, who registered his first career quality start in the game, is slated to next face the Minnesota Twins at Comerica Park on Sunday.

Ryan Carpenter Gets No-Decision

Detroit Tigers left-handed pitcher Ryan Carpenter is still winless in four starts this year, although he has thrown better in his last two appearances. Carpenter, who received a no-decision on Wednesday, allowed two earned runs on four hits and a pair of walks along with three strikeouts over five innings in the Tigers 4-2 victory over the Orioles. He also hit two Orioles batters and gave up a solo home run to Keon Broxton, marking the sixth long ball he has allowed this season. Carpenter has pitched better on the road than at home this year, posting a 2.70 ERA along with a 0.80 WHIP and .162 average against over 10 innings of work.

Ryan Carpenter To Start On Short Rest Wednesday

Detroit Tigers pitcher Ryan Carpenter will start on short rest on Wednesday against the Orioles on the road. The left-hander allowed just an earned run in five innings while walking none and striking out five in his last start on Saturday against the Mets, but you shouldn't forget that he gave up 13 earned runs on four home runs in nine innings in his two previous starts against the Angels and Astros. Carpenter will have a tasty matchup against Baltimore, but he's going on short rest and still has a very low ceiling for those desperate enough to consider streaming him in deeper leagues.

Ryan Carpenter To Start Saturday

Detroit Tigers pitcher Ryan Carpenter will be called up to start on Saturday against the Mets, according to manager Ron Gardenhire. Even in a juicy matchup against the banged-up Mets this weekend, the left-handed Carpenter is a poor streaming candidate in deeper leagues. The 28-year-old has a 13.00 ERA, 2.22 WHIP and seven K's in his nine innings over two starts for Detroit this season. There's no upside here. Stay away.

Tyson Ross Pushed Back, Ryan Carpenter To Start Thursday

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tyson Ross (back) will have his next start pushed back to Friday against the Twins, as he's dealing with a stiff back. Ryan Carpenter will be brought up from the minors to start on Thursday against the Angels. Neither pitcher will be a recommended streamer this week, but Ross moves from a decent matchup to a bad one in Minnesota. The 32-year-old right-hander is 1-4 this year with a 5.34 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and weak 6.8 K/9 in 30 1/3 innings (six starts). Carpenter, a lefty, had an unattractive 7.25 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 6.0 K/9 in six outings (five starts) over 22 1/3 frames with Detroit last season.

Ryan Carpenter Lined Up For Saturday

Detroit Tigers pitcher Ryan Carpenter is lined up to make a spot start against the White Sox on Saturday, but manager Ron Gardenhire doesn't think they'll play the game due to poor expected weather conditions. Carpenter is 0-3 with a 6.30 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 8.1 K/9 in his four starts for Triple-A Toledo this year and would be an extremely poor streaming option if the game is actually played on Saturday. With poor weather conditions expected, keep that in mind for any position players from either team that you may have on your fantasy rosters.

Ryan Carpenter Leaves Thursday's Start, Will Be Placed on DL

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Ryan Carpenter left his start on Thursday against the Angels with a right oblique injury. Carpenter was in noticeable pain after giving up a solo home run to Angels catcher Jose Briceno in the top of the fifth inning. The Tigers have announced that they will place Carpenter on the 10-day disabled list, with a corresponding roster move to be made Friday. Carpenter means little to the fantasy community, as the young pitcher holds an abysmal 8.31 ERA and 1.73 WHIP over 8 2/3 innings.

Ryan Carpenter Will Make MLB Debut Sunday

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Ryan Carpenter will make his major league debut Sunday in the second game of a split doubleheader against the Pirates. Michael Fulmer will pitch the first game of the doubleheader, which was forced by Saturday's rainout. Carpenter owns a 4.37 ERA in his minor league career, which has spanned seven seasons. Last year at Triple-A Albuquerque, Carpenter struck out 9.29 batters per nine innings but was also susceptible to walks and the long ball. Don't count on him to have any sort of staying power at the MLB level.
