The Oakland Athletics have claimed relief pitcher Sam Selman off of waivers, according to A's beat writer Matt Kawahara. Selman split the 2021 season with the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Angels. He pitched a total of 25 innings, posting a 5.76 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. The 31-year-old southpaw likely won't land a very consequential role with the Athletics and there's a chance he'll spend some time at Triple-A as well.

No healthy member of the San Francisco bullpen has more than three saves this year, with Tyler Rogers, Tony Watson, and Sam Coonrod all having multiple saves in 2020. Aggressive fantasy managers can add Selman in deep season-long formats, as he lowered his ERA to 2.70 on Thursday.
