Stephen Piscotty Returns To A's

The Oakland Athletics signed free-agent outfielder Stephen Piscotty to a minor-league deal that includes an invitation to major-league spring training. Piscotty played in Oakland from 2018-22 after spending the first three years of his major-league career with the St. Louis Cardinals. The 33-year-old veteran didn't appear at all in the majors in 2023. He's been in decline since 2018, and even though the A's are one of the worst teams in baseball, it might be a long shot for Piscotty to make the Opening Day roster out of spring training. In 51 games at Triple-A Charlotte in the White Sox's organization last year, Piscotty hit just .232/.330/.390 with six home runs, 32 RBI and 27 runs scored in 206 plate appearances. If he returns to the big leagues in 2024, it will be as a bench bat for the A's.

Giants Agree To Minor-League Deal With Stephen Piscotty

According to an article from FanSided's Robert Murray, the San Francisco Giants and outfielder Stephen Piscotty have reportedly agreed to a minor-league deal. Per Murray's article, Piscotty's minor league contract comes with an invitation to spring training. The 32-year-old has appeared in each of the last eight big-league seasons, the last five with the Oakland Athletics. Most recently, Piscotty hit .190 with a .252 on-base percentage, five home runs, and a pair of stolen bases in 139 plate appearances in 2022 for the American League West club. As of now, the Giants' current outfield options on the team's 40-man roster include Michael Conforto, Heliot Ramos, Mitch Haniger, Luiz Gonzalez, Mike Yastrzemski, LaMonte Wade Jr., Austin Slater, Joc Pederson, and Blake Sabol.

Stephen Piscotty Day-To-Day With Wrist Injury

Oakland Athletics outfielder Stephen Piscotty (wrist) was removed from Monday's game against the Texas Rangers. He was hit in his left wrist by a pitch from Garrett Richards. He underwent X-rays after the incident and the X-rays showed no fracture. Athletics manager Mark Kotsay labeled the injury as a forearm contusion and said that Piscotty is day-to-day for now. Injuries have held the 31-year-old to just 25 games this season. Over those 25 games, he's slashed .197/.279/.303 with two home runs, two stolen bases, seven RBI and seven runs.

Stephen Piscotty To Meet Team On The Road Tuesday

Oakland Athletics outfielder Stephen Piscotty (calf) will be joining the team in New York on Tuesday. The A's are slated for a three-game series against the Yankees beginning on Monday. Once Piscotty joins the team, it will be determined when he will be activated from the injured list. There's a chance he'll be activated on Tuesday, but he may need another day or so. Piscotty has been out with a left calf strain since early May. The 31-year-old only managed to appear in 14 games this year before sustaining the injury. Over those 14 games, he slashed .225/.340/.325 with one home run, two stolen bases, three RBI and four runs.

Stephen Piscotty Nearing Rehab Assignment

Oakland Athletics outfielder Stephen Piscotty (calf) is slated to begin a rehab assignment in the minors on June 21, according to A's manager Mark Kotsay. Piscotty has been on the shelf with a left calf strain since May 6. He ran the bases at the Coliseum on Friday and is expected to run them again on Sunday. The 31-year-old has been limited to just 14 games this year due to injuries. Over those 14 games, he has slashed .225/.340/.325 with one home run, two stolen bases, three RBI and four runs.

Stephen Piscotty Headed To Injured List

Oakland Athletics outfielder Stephen Piscotty (calf) will be going on the injured list, according to manager Mark Kotsay. He was forced to exit Friday's game due to calf tightness. An MRI revealed a Grade 1 calf strain, so Piscotty is going to miss some time. The 31-year-old has struggled at the plate this season, so maybe a little time off will help him. He's hitting .225/.340/.325 with one home run, so he can probably be cut on most fantasy rosters who don't have an available IR spot.

Stephen Piscotty Goes On COVID-19 List

The Oakland Athletics placed outfielder Stephen Piscotty on the COVID-19 list on Friday and also placed A.J. Puk, Kirby Snead and Austin Allen on the restricted list. Catcher Christian Bethancourt, infielder Drew Jackson, right-hander Ryan Castellani and left-hander Zach Logue have been called up. It's unclear whether Piscotty has tested positive for the virus. The 31-year-old is 4-for-14 with one RBI, one steal and one run scored in his first 17 plate appearances over the first five games of the season. Until he clears the league's protocols, Chad Pinder and Tony Kemp could see more playing time in the outfield, starting on Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Stephen Piscotty To Have Wrist Surgery Friday

Oakland Athletics outfielder Stephen Piscotty (wrist) is scheduled to undergo wrist surgery on Friday morning. Piscotty was sidelined with a left wrist sprain earlier this season and never fully recovered from it, so he'll go back on the shelf for the rest of the 2021 season. The 30-year-old from Stanford went back on the injured list last Saturday and hasn't done much for the A's or fantasy managers, slashing a meager .220/.282/.353 with only five home runs, one stolen base and 16 RBI in 72 games this season. Piscotty should no longer be rostered in any fantasy format and won't be much of an option heading into next season, even in the deepest of leagues.

Stephen Piscotty Could Be Facing Surgery

Oakland Athletics outfielder Stephen Piscotty (wrist) could be facing surgery to fix a wrist issue that has been plaguing him all season long, according to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com. Piscotty was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier in the day on Saturday with a sprained left wrist, as he has struggled at the plate all year long by slashing .220/.282/.353 with five homers, one steal, 16 RBI and 14 runs scored over 72 games. Even without the potential for surgery, there's no reason managers should be rostering Piscotty at this point in the season.

Stephen Piscotty Placed On IL With Sprained Wrist

Oakland Athletics outfielder Stephen Piscotty (wrist) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a sprained left wrist, according to Shayna Rubin of the Mercury News. To replace him on the roster, the Athletics have recalled outfielder Seth Brown from Triple-A Las Vegas. Over 72 games this year, Piscotty is slashing .220/.282/.353 with five homers, one steal, 16 RBI and 14 runs scored. There really isn't any value to be found here even in deeper formats, so he can be left on the waiver wire in all formats.
