T.J. Rivera Done For The Year

New York Mets infielder T.J. Rivera (elbow) is out for the rest of the season, according to manager Mickey Callaway. Rivera was trying to make it back from Tommy John surgery a year ago, but he wasn't able to play at all in 2018. He hit .290 with five home runs and 27 RBI in 73 games in 2017.

T.J. Rivera To Join Team Next Month

New York Mets infielder T.J. Rivera (elbow) hasn't resumed his minor league rehab assignment yet after a setback last month, but he's still expected to join the team when rosters expand in September. Rivera is coming back from Tommy John surgery last summer. He has hit .304 with eight home runs and 43 RBI in 319 at-bats over the last two seasons with the Mets, but he'll likely just be a bench option to close out the season.

T.J. Rivera Suffers Sprained Right Elbow

New York Mets infielder T.J. Rivera (elbow) has been diagnosed with a strain, meaning there is damage to his UCL. Rivera is coming off of Tommy John surgery and this diagnosis does not help his chances of returning anytime soon. He has received a platelet-rich plasma injection and is currently shut down, but Rivera's ongoing elbow issues could keep him out for an extended period of time.

T.J. Rivera Suffers Setback

New York Mets infielder T.J. Rivera (knee) suffered a setback after leaving a rehab game with soreness in his surgically repaired elbow, and the Mets are shutting him down for around 10 days. Rivera hasn't played at all this year, but he does have a career .304/.335/.445 slash line in 106 games with the Mets in two years, although he's only hit a total of eight homers in that time. The non-contending Mets could use Rivera later this year as a utility guy, but fantasy owners shouldn't hold their breath for him.

T.J. Rivera Returning From Tommy John Surgery On Thursday

New York Mets infielder T.J. Rivera(elbow) will make his return on Thursday, serving as the designated hitter for High-A St. Lucie. Rivera tore his UCL in 2017 and tried to rehab the injury prior to surgery but eventually opted for Tommy John surgery, which he underwent last September. Rivera played in 73 games last season, manning a plethora of positions -- first, second and third base plus some outfield. He slashed a solid .290/.330/.430 over that time, knocking in five home runs with 13 doubles and 27 RBI. Rivera would make for an ideal replacement for fellow infielder Wilmer Flores on the main roster if Flores is traded, as has been rumored.

T.J. Rivera Expected Back In July

New York Mets infielder T.J. Rivera has been out since June 2017 with a partially-torn UCL, and the latest word is the team does not expect him back until July. He would have been back sooner had he elected for surgery instead of rehab right away; he didnt undergo Tommy John surgery until September 2017. The 29-year-old Rivera has been a solid contributor for the Mets, slashing .290/.330/.430 with five home runs, 13 doubles, and 27 RBI across 73 games last season while playing first base, second base, third base, and the outfield. Hes not likely to come into significant fantasy value, but if he can continue to improve there may be some intrigue with a player who has a nice degree of multi-position eligibility.

T.J. Rivera Out Until July

New York Mets infielder T.J. Rivera (elbow) will be sidelined until at least July. Rivera said before spring training that he was hopeful to return by May. He had Tommy John surgery last September, so he still needs some more time to recover. He belongs on the waiver wire in all leagues.

T.J. Rivera Progressing

New York Mets infielder T.J. Rivera (elbow) expects to be cleared to begin throwing as soon as next month. That would put him about five months removed from Tommy John surgery. The timeline for position players to return is faster than that of pitchers, but Rivera sees May as the most realistic goal at this time. He should contribute in a utility role whenever he is ready. Rivera owns a strong .304/.335/.445 batting line through 344 plate appearances in the majors.

T.J. Rivera Hopes To Return By May

New York Mets infielder T.J. Rivera(elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery on his injured right elbow in September, but he has been progressing nicely and hopes to return in May. Rivera has had a solid couple of years for the Mets, slashing .290/.330/.430 with five home runs and 13 doubles in 73 games in 2017 prior to partially tearing his UCL. While Rivera isnt going to set the world on fire, hes worth mentioning because he could very well end up taking the starting second or third base jobs when he returns if the Mets dont find steady solutions this offseason. With his positional eligibility -- Rivera played first base, second base, third base and the outfield last year -- he could turn into a nice multi-positional borderline fantasy asset if he builds upon the spurts of success weve seen out of him in his career thus far.

T.J. Rivera Diagnosed With Partially Torn UCL

While the New York Mets had some good vibes with the return of second basemen Neil Walker on Friday, it was offset by the injury news of a fellow infielder. T.J. Rivera has been diagnosed with a partially torn UCL and as such, was placed on the 10-day disabled list. Rivera received a platelet-rich plasma injection for the injury, though it remains unclear what his timetable is for a return. If the injury does lead to Tommy John surgery, recovery time for position players can be as little as six months and so he should be able to return for the start of 2018. It's an unfortunate turn of events for the 28-year-old, who is having himself a nice season with a .330 OBP and .430 SLG to go along with five home runs and 27 RBI in 73 games played.
