The Chicago White Sox recalled relief pitcher Thyago Vieira from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday. Relief pitcher Jose Ruiz had been optioned Tuesday. Vieira has pitched in parts of the last three seasons, compiling just 20 2/3 innings with the Seattle Mariners and the White Sox. In that time, he has a 6.10 ERA and 5.50 xFIP with 18 strikeouts against nine walks. He also has a 4.13 xFIP in the minors this season. With those numbers, Rivera offers no fantasy intrigue as Alex Colome has the team's closer job locked down.
Chicago White Sox relief pitcher Thyago Vieira has been recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. Vieira posted a 5.05 ERA and 50/24 K/BB ratio over 41 innings in Triple A this season. The hard-throwing righty had an ugly ERA, but did manage to save six games for Charlotte, and only allowed two home runs through 41 innings. Joakim Soria was traded to the Brewers, so the White Sox closer role is up for grabs. There is a good chance that Vieira gets some save opportunities this season.
