Trevor Rogers Looking To Regain Velocity

Baltimore Orioles left-hander Trevor Rogers, who as acquired in a trade from the Miami Marlins last year, was sent to Triple-A Norfolk after four mostly ineffective starts with his new club. It was a big fall for Rogers, who had a 3.17 ERA in his final nine starts with the Marlins. He had a 7.11 ERA in his four starts for the O's. Rogers was an All-Star as a rookie in 2021 but admits he was overwhelmed in his move to Baltimore in 2024. The veteran lefty did have a 2.96 ERA with 28 K's and six walks in 24 1/3 innings in his final four starts for Norfolk, though, and he is going to a player performance data-driven center this offseason for further evaluation to try and regain some velocity. Rogers averaged 94.5 mph on his fastball in 2021, but it was down to 91.9 mph in 2024. The 27-year-old is focusing on getting his lower half stronger as he looks to bounce back in 2025 with the O's.

Trevor Rogers Optioned

The Baltimore Orioles optioned left-hander Trevor Rogers to Triple-A Norfolk and recalled left-hander Nick Vespi and activated infielder Emmanuel Rivera in corresponding moves. The O's also optioned Colin Selby and Livan Soto and recalled Matt Bowman in a series of moves on Thursday. Since Rogers joined Baltimore's starting rotation in a questionable trade that sent infield prospect Connor Norby to the Miami Marlins, the 26-year-old left-hander has posted a 7.11 ERA while allowing 16 runs (15 earned) on 25 hits (two homers), walking 10 and striking out 12 in 19 innings pitched. Rogers hasn't gone beyond five innings of work since June 21 and will now head to the minors to work on some things before rejoining the O's when rosters expand in September. Rogers has gone 2-11 overall in 2024 with a 4.92 ERA, a 1.58 WHIP, a career-worst 13.3% strikeout rate and a career-high 11.1% walk rate.

Trevor Rogers To Make Baltimore Debut On Thursday

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Trevor Rogers is set to debut with his new team on Thursday evening as the Orioles face the Cleveland Guardians. Rogers was traded to Baltimore on Tuesday afternoon in exchange for infield prospect Connor Norby and outfielder Kyle Stowers. This season, the southpaw has posted a modest 4.53 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and a 46:85 BB:K ratio across 105 frames. However, in his past five outings, he has not allowed more than two runs in each of the starts and posted an overall 3.38 ERA and 1.42 WHIP. The 26-year-old could be worth holding onto in deeper leagues during the second half as he should be in line to receive several wins pitching on a competing Orioles team but should remain on your bench this evening and faded in DFS as the Guardians currently boast one of the sport's top records.

Trevor Rogers Traded To Baltimore

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Trevor Rogers is being traded to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for infield prospect Connor Norby (O's fifth-ranked prospect) and outfielder Kyle Stowers, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Rogers has posted a 4.53 ERA and 1.53 WHIP through 105 1/3 innings of work this season. However, across his last five starts, Rogers has not allowed more than three earned runs and carries a 3.38 ERA and 1.42 WHIP. While he does boast a strong 47.0% ground-ball rate, he has a low 18.0% strikeout rate and a hefty 43.5 hard-hit rate. Rogers will likely slot in at the back end of the Baltimore rotation, which may force Albert Suarez into a bullpen role.

Trevor Rogers Tosses Quality Outing

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Trevor Rogers looked strong on the mound during Sunday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. The left-hander allowed one run on two hits over five innings of work. Rogers struck out five batters while walking four in what ended up being a no-decision for him. He should keep the good times rolling in his next start against the Washington Nationals.

Trevor Rogers Tosses Five Scoreless Innings

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Trevor Rogers posted a solid outing during Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. The southpaw threw five shutout innings, allowing three hits, and a pair of walks in the win. Rogers has struggled throughout most of the season, but hopefully this performance will help him get back on track. He recorded six strikeouts in this game, which is his most since early April. Rogers will take a 5.79 ERA, 1.76 WHIP, and 37/19 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Trevor Rogers To Start Series Finale For Marlins

The Miami Marlins will be starting left-hander Trevor Rogers on Wednesday in the series finale against the San Francisco Giants. A.J. Puk was in line to start on Wednesday afternoon, but the left-hander is dealing with an illness so will not start. Rogers has started three games for the Marlins this season and is 0-2 with a 4.80 ERA as he's pitched 15 innings allowing nine runs, eight earned while walking eight.

Trevor Rogers Could Make Spring Debut Tuesday

Miami Marlins left-hander Trevor Rogers could make his Grapefruit League debut on Tuesday after looking strong in a live batting practice session in camp on Thursday. Rogers was limited to only four starts for the Fish last year due to multiple injuries, but he appears to be healthy now and is in line to be part of the team's Opening Day rotation. "The velo was good. The secondary was great," manager Skip Schumaker said. "We really didn't know what that was going to look like because it has been a while. He was throwing 93-94 mph in a setting with not much adrenaline. To see that and to see the changeup thrown for strikes and the slider was good. A lot of positives." Fantasy managers should leave Rogers undrafted and take a wait-and-see approach with him early in the year as a potential waiver-wire pickup.

Trevor Rogers Healthy To Begin Spring Training

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Trevor Rogers (lat, biceps) is healthy as spring training gets underway. The 26-year-old lefty was limited to just four starts and 18 innings last season due to lat and biceps injuries. He compiled a 4.00 ERA during those four starts, but he was coming off a disastrous 2022 season in which he put up a 5.47 ERA, 1.505 WHIP, and 106:45 K/BB over 107 innings (23 starts). Rogers was the runner-up for the National League Rookie of the Year back in 2021. His fastball sits in the mid-90s, and he can induce a lot of whiffs with both his slider and changeup. Miami manager Skip Schumaker told reporters that he expects Rogers to be a big part of the team's rotation that will be without ace Sandy Alcantara (elbow), who underwent elbow surgery back in October. Rogers is an interesting post-hype sleeper name in fantasy due to his past success. He could be a steal late in drafts if he can stay healthy and regain his rookie form.

Teams Interested In Edward Cabrera, Trevor Rogers

MLB teams have shown interest in Miami Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera and left-hander Trevor Rogers this offseason, according to sources briefed on the Marlins' conversations. Cabrera missed a month with a right-shoulder impingement in 2023 and spent more than a month at Triple-A. In the big leagues, he posted a 4.24 ERA in 99 2/3 frames. The 26-year-old Rogers didn't pitch after April 19 due to a left-biceps strain and then a partial tear in his right lat. Left-handers Jesus Luzardo and Braxton Garrett are likely off limits for the Fish. Texas Rangers infielder Ezequiel Duran is the kind of player Miami would want in return for Cabrera, but the Rangers may not be willing to part with Duran, who was valuable as an injury replacement at shortstop and third base for the World Series-champion Rangers.
