Travis D'Arnaud And Tyler Flowers Able To Workout On Tuesday

Atlanta Braves catcher Travis D'Arnaud (illness) was able to get a workout in after missing the first five games with symptoms related to the coronavirus. Backup catcher Tyler Flowers (illness) is also dealing with the symptoms but was able to workout. Both have tested negative but the team is operating cautiously. Manager Brian Snitker said that one or both could be available for Wednesday's home opener against the Tampa Bay Rays. Former first-round pick Alex Jackson has been manning the catching duties in their absences. D'Arnaud had a .782 OPS in just 92 games with the Tampa Bay Rays last year.

Travis d’Arnaud, Tyler Flowers Not Available To Start Year

Atlanta Braves catchers Travis D'Arnaud and Tyler Flowers will both miss Opening Day on Friday after exhibiting symptoms, yet testing negative for COVID-19. As the only two catchers originally selected for the clubs Opening Day roster, the duo of Alex Jackson and William Contreras have been recalled to serve as backstops for Atlantas staff. dArnaud figured to play prominently in most standard fantasy leagues, but with both men now down for an unknown amount of time, owners will want to consider other options, with Jackson getting the start Friday. While its a step in the right direction that neither dArnaud nor Flowers tested positive for the virus, their return date remains up in the air.

Braves Decline Tyler Flowers' Option, Re-Sign Him

The Atlanta Braves are re-signing catcher Tyler Flowers to a one-year, $4 million deal on Monday, according to a source. This comes after the team declined his $6 million 2020 option and offered him a $2 million buyout. Flowers split time with Brian McCann, who has since retired, in 2019 and hit .229/.319/.413 with 11 home runs and 34 RBI in his 271 at-bats. The 33-year-old is more useful for his glove than his bat, and he'll surely split time in Atlanta again in 2020, making him only useful in deeper two-catcher formats or NL-only leagues.

Tyler Flowers Heading Into October Cold At The Plate

Atlanta Braves catcher Tyler Flowers will head into the NLDS slugging only .383 over his last 35 games. Flowers will work as a tandem with veteran Brian McCann throughout the postseason and, despite his leadership, has struggled offensively again this season. Flowers has shown better at home (.460 slugging) than on the road this season (.364 slugging) and seven of his 11 home runs have come in the friendly confines. But Flowers will be a below average fantasy option in DFS formats.

Tyler Flowers Takes Turn At Catcher

Atlanta Braves catcher Tyler Flowers is the team's eighth hitter Wednesday against the Philadelphia Phillies. The rest of Atlanta's lineup is their standard arrangement. They are facing Phillies starter Nick Pivetta, who's been better since returning from a demotion on May 28, but still has just a 4.30 ERA, 32-10 K-BB ratio, and nine home runs allowed in 37 2/3 innings in those six starts. Assuming good weather, a Braves stack makes sense in DFS, although Flowers should probably not be a part of it from the eight-spot.

Tyler Flowers Remains Out On Monday

Atlanta Braves catcher Tyler Flowers (hand) is absent from Monday's lineup against Kyle Freeland and the Colorado Rockies. Flowers was hit by a pitch during Saturday's contest and did not play on Sunday. Alex Jackson will start behind the plate and bat eighth. He is not worthy of fantasy consideration unless it is announced that Flowers will be out for an extended period of time.

Tyler Flowers Starting Saturday, Batting Seventh

Atlanta Braves catcher Tyler Flowers is starting on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies and will be batting seventh. The 33-year-old hit just .184 with three home runs and 15 RBI against RHP in 2018. The Braves went with Brian McCann on Opening Day but with two aging veterans, the team is probably going to evenly split starting the two to keep them fresh for the grueling season. Opposing the Braves on the mound is Nick Pivetta, who struck out right-handed hitters at a 28% clip in 2018 so Flowers isn't an afterthought for DFS and only presents any value if a lefty is on the mound.

Tyler Flowers Agrees To Extension

Atlanta Braves catcher Tyler Flowers agreed to a one-year contract extension that includes a team option on Tuesday. Flowers has had a down year in 2018 with a .225/.357/.335 slash line, five home runs and 20 RBI, but he remains a valuable backstop for the Braves in a tandem with Kurt Suzuki. Flowers is only attractive in two-catcher leagues.

Charlie Culberson, Tyler Flowers Out Against Rockies Thursday

Atlanta Braves infielder Charlie Culberson and catcher Tyler Flowers are both out on Thursday. Third baseman Johan Camargo will start in Culberson's stead, while Kurt Suzuki assumes his catching duties. The Braves will face a tough test in Jon Gray and the Colorado Rockies. Gray has pitched a lot better since his demotion, and still has devastating strikeout ability. He's also away from Coors, where balls fly. That said, outfielder Ronald Acuna has been on fire (though it remains to be seen if his elbow will bother him a day after getting hit on it), and so has fellow outfielder Nick Markakis, who's had success against Gray in the past. Consider them both solid daily fantasy options today.

Tyler Flowers Behind the Plate in Game 1

Atlanta Braves catcher Tyler Flowers will bat seventh and draw the start behind the plate for Game 1 versus the Washington Nationals on Tuesday. Flowers will face lefty Jefry Rodriguez, which should be a fairly favorable matchup for him. Kurt Suzuki will likely be behind the plate for Game 2 of the doubleheader, but that will be against Max Scherzer, so Suzuki won't be a fantasy option on Tuesday. Flowers could be a cheap option at catcher for DFS contests.
