Travis d'Arnaud Unlikely To Play On Sunday

Atlanta Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud (wrist) is unlikely to play on Sunday after being hit by a pitch in his wrist on Saturday evening. David O'Brien of The Athletic reported that the backstop had his wrist wrapped up, but he is feeling "ok." Manager Brian Snitker expressed that they will probably stay away from using him in Sunday's game. As a result, fantasy managers should expect Sean Murphy to be slotted in the starting nine and be behind the dish. The 35-year-old went 4-for-16 in his previous five games, while Murphy has been hot at the plate, holding a strong .316 AVG during this span. Murphy is worth considering in DFS contests this afternoon as he is slated to face Los Angeles right-hander Jack Kochanowicz, who enters Sunday with a hefty 7.98 ERA.

Travis d'Arnaud Closes Strong July With Two Homers

Atlanta Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud was one of two members of the team to smash two home runs in Wednesday afternoon's win over the hosting Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field, collecting his 10th and 11th homers of the campaign in the victory. d'Arnaud went back-to-back with first baseman Matt Olson with a tater to left field off Brewers ace Freddy Peralta to tie the game at two runs apiece in the fourth inning, later going back-to-back with Olson for the second time in the game to extend the Braves' lead to 6-2 in the eighth frame. Although his playing time is sporadic with starter Sean Murphy healthy, the 35-year-old veteran backstop hit a strong .370 over 46 at-bats in the month of July to go with four dingers, 10 RBI, and one stolen base. If Murphy ever were to go down again, d'Arnaud would rise to mixed-league fantasy relevance in all formats.

Travis d'Arnaud Taking A Seat Saturday

Atlanta Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the hosting New York Mets and right-hander Tylor Megill. The veteran singled in his four trips to the plate on Friday but will give way to Sean Murphy behind the dish on Saturday. It's been a productive 2024 campaign for the 35-year-old who is hitting .257 with nine home runs and a .777 OPS across 69 games and 224 trips to the plate, production that grades out 15% above the league average, as per his 115 wRC+. d'Arnaud's production has earned him more reps behind the plate over Murphy who has taken a step back at the dish in 2024. Fantasy managers who scooped him up should be pleased with d'Arnaud's production at a cheap cost this season.

Travis d'Arnaud Blasts Two Homers

Atlanta Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud showed off his impressive power during Sunday's game against the San Diego Padres. The 35-year-old smacked a 431-foot three-run blast off Stephen Kolek to give his team a 5-1 lead. He later increased the lead with a solo shot off Jeremiah Estrada in the eighth inning. He finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk and three runs scored. He's slashing .246/.308/.465 with nine home runs and 32 RBI this season. His fantasy value is limited with him splitting time behind the plate with Sean Murphy.

Travis d'Arnaud Resting On Thursday

Atlanta Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud will get a day to rest in the matinee affair on Thursday at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs to wrap up the series. With d'Arnaud on the bench, Chadwick Tromp will do the catching for right-hander AJ Smith-Shawver and will hit in the eight spot against Cubs right-hander Ben Brown. d'Arnaud has admirably held down the fort as Atlanta's primary backstop with Sean Murphy (oblique) on the injured list since getting hurt on Opening Day. The 35-year-old veteran catcher got off to a hot start with regular playing time in April, but he's cooled off so far in May, going 9-for-43 (.209) with no homers, one RBI and 13 strikeouts in 14 games played. With Murphy's return coming soon, d'Arnaud is going to find himself on the bench more often in the near future. Tromp has gone 11-for-45 (.244) with no homers and six RBI in limited action in 2024.

Travis d'Arnaud Returns For Game 2 On Monday

Atlanta Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud (head) is back behind the plate and is batting fifth for the second game of a doubleheader on Monday against the visiting San Diego Padres and right-hander Randy Vasquez. It will be d'Arnaud's first game since he was removed from Friday's game against San Diego early as a precaution after he dealt with dizziness from being hit by a foul tip. The good news is that the 35-year-old veteran avoided a concussion and a trip to the seven-day concussion list. His fantasy value remains high with Sean Murphy (oblique) still working his way back from an injury. d'Arnaud is also hitting .255/.336/.500 with an .836 OPS, five home runs, 16 RBI and 15 runs scored in his 102 at-bats so far in 2024. He's never faced Vasquez in his career.

Travis d'Arnaud Absent From Sunday's Lineup

Atlanta Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud (head) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the San Diego Padres. The veteran backstop left Friday's game after taking a foul ball off of his mask. He reportedly felt dizzy after the incident, but he was not diagnosed with a concussion and is considered day-to-day. Chadwick Tromp will start behind the plate and bat ninth while d'Arnaud recovers. Tromp has minimal fantasy appeal, especially with Sean Murphy (oblique) inching closer to a return.

Travis D'Arnaud Diagnosed With Head Contusion

Atlanta Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud (head) took a foul ball off his face mask in the sixth inning of Friday's 3-1 loss to the Padres and reported feeling dizzy afterward. The 35-year-old was checked for a concussion and passed the initial tests, so for now, it is being labeled as a head contusion. He'll be reevaluated Saturday and then they'll determine next steps, but it sounds like he'll avoid a stint on the IL. The veteran was replaced in the game by backup catcher Chadwick Tromp who could see additional action if d'Arnaud were to miss any time. The starting catcher to open the regular season, Sean Murphy, is on the verge of beginning a rehab assignment as well, so the Braves should be getting him back in the next couple weeks.

Travis d'Arnaud Leaves Friday's Game With Dizziness

Atlanta Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud was removed from Friday night's 3-1 loss to the visiting San Diego Padres early due to dizziness. The 35-year-old veteran took a foul ball off his facemask in the fifth inning and was removed before the sixth frame. It's worth noting that d'Arnaud has already had several documented concussions in his career, so this matter will not be taken lightly. The Braves will assuredly put him through the league's concussion protocols, which could result in a trip to the seven-day concussion list. At the very least, d'Arnaud is unlikely to play in the second game of the series on Saturday. Sean Murphy (oblique) has been out since straining his oblique on Opening Day. He's getting closer to a return, but if d'Arnaud is forced to miss time, third-string catcher Chadwick Tromp could be forced into starting duties behind the dish until Murphy is reinstated from the injured list.

Travis d'Arnaud Resting Wednesday

Atlanta Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud is getting the day off in the series finale on Wednesday against the Seattle Mariners. With d'Arnaud riding pine, Chadwick Tromp will catch left-hander Chris Sale and will bat ninth for the Braves against Mariners right-hander Emerson Hancock. With Sean Murphy (oblique) on the injured list, d'Arnaud has become Atlanta's primary catcher and has thrived with the opportunity. The 35-year-old veteran is currently hitting .282 (20-for-71) with five home runs, 16 RBI and 12 runs scored in his first 25 games of the year. With a scheduled off day on Thursday before a showdown on the road in LA against the Dodgers, d'Arnaud should be back behind the dish on Friday. Tromp is one to avoid in DFS formats in the nine-hole.
