The Cleveland Indians sent relief pitcher Tyler Olson as well as outfielder Greg Allen and reliever Adam Plutko to Triple-A. The team needed to make room for new additions Brad Hand and Adam Cimber as well as call-ups Yandy Diaz and Melky Cabrera. Olson has solid strikeout numbers with a 24/8 K/BB ratio and a 12.0 K/9, however, he has struggled overall with a 7.50 ERA. He'll try to work out the kinks in the minor leagues. Even if Olson were recalled he would hold no fantasy value in a now crowded Indians bullpen.
Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Tyler Olson (lat) will continue throwing on a flat-ground program. Olson has been on the disabled list since last week, but it does not sound like a serious injury. The fact that he not only is throwing on flat ground but that he is continuing the throwing program is good news for his prognosis. The Indians desperately need bullpen help, so getting Olson back could be a plus for them. He does have a 7.27 ERA so far in 2018 in just 17 1/3 innings pitched, though, so there is no reason to be touching him in fantasy leagues.
Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Tyler Olson was placed on the paternity leave list on Friday. He'll miss the weekend series against the Kansas City Royals. This transaction allowed Cleveland to activate Andrew Miller from the disabled list, but it is only a temporary fix. With a 6.75 ERA in 15 games, Olson might be the odd man out in a more permanent transaction once he is reinstated.
