Boston Red Sox infielder Tzu-Wei Lin (knee) has been placed on the 10-day injured list. Lin suffered a left knee injury while attempting to steal a base on Friday. The Red Sox will have Lin undergo further testing to determine how long he will be sidelined. He doesn't have much fantasy value, so this won't mean much to most fantasy owners. Infielder Eduardo Nunez (back) has been activated from the injured list in a corresponding move.
Boston Red Sox infielder Tzu-Wei Lin (knee) left the game early on Friday against the White Sox with left knee soreness after an awkward slide into second base on a steal attempt. The good news is that he was able to walk off the field under his own power, so consider him day-to-day for now. The 25-year-old was hitless with a walk in his lone plate appearance on Friday and has four hits in 22 plate appearances on the season as a utility man for Boston. There's a good chance that Lin is sent back to the minors when one of the team's injured second basemen -- Dustin Pedroia, Eduardo Nunez, Brock Holt -- return from the injured list.
Red Sox Activate Jackie Bradley, Recall Tzu-Wei Lin
The Boston Red Sox activated outfielder Jackie Bradley (thumb) from the 10-day disabled list Saturday and he will bat eighth in the order. It will be his return to action after missing 10 days with a thumb injury to face off with Masahiro Tanaka who he only has two hits in 25 at bats against. Infielder Tzu-Wei Lin was also recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to provide some infielder depth for the final regular season push.
Boston Red Sox prospect Tzu-Wei Lin will make his MLB debut on Monday and bat ninth in the order against the Twins. Lin was promoted on Saturday when Josh Rutledge was placed on the 7-day disabled list with a concussion. Although Lin has played shortstop most of his career he will get the start at third base. In 48 games at Double-A Portland Lin was batting .302 with five home runs. He will be a temporary call up to fill in for the beat up Red Sox infield.
