Wade LeBlanc Retires Saturday

Free-agent left-hander Wade LeBlanc is calling it a career after 13 seasons in the big leagues, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. The 37-year-old had an up and down career altogether but will end with a lifetime ERA of 4.54, spending time with nine clubs. LeBlanc went unsigned during the offseason but pitched in 2021 for the Baltimore Orioles and St. Louis Cardinals, combining for a 4.41 ERA with 29 strikeouts and a 1.49 WHIP over 49 innings and nine starts. The former second-round pick had no fantasy value before he decided to retire, so this announcement will not affect even the deepest of leagues.

Wade LeBlanc Out For The Year

St. Louis Cardinals left-hander Wade LeBlanc (elbow) will miss the remainder of the year with a left elbow injury, according to Derrick S. Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. LeBlanc was placed on the injured list on August 13, and his recovery hasn't been going as planned. Before being sidelined, he had a 4.41 ERA with 29 strikeouts over 49 innings but had a 3.53 ERA in eight starts this season. Fantasy managers who haven't dropped him already will now need to look for starting options on the waiver wire.

Wade LeBlanc Likely To Have Extended Absence

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc (elbow) is expected to miss more than 10 days on the injured list. It sounds like he won't return when eligible while he deals with an elbow injury. This is frustrating news for the Cards with Kwang Hyun Kim (elbow) also sidelined right now. The Cardinals are hopeful to get both of their pitchers back by the end of August. Unlike Kim, LeBlanc doesn't carry standard league value and is likely only an NL-only option right now. Fantasy managers can probably find a decent substitute while LeBlanc is sidelined.

Wade LeBlanc Exits Thursday's Game

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc left Thursday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates with what was described as left elbow pain, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Before his departure, he completed two innings, surrendering three earned runs and walk while collecting one strikeout. LeBlanc has put together some good starts for the Cardinals after moving to the rotation on June 28, pitching to a 2.94 ERA in his last seven starts. For the year, he has a 4.41 ERA, 29 strikeouts, and 17 BB over 49 IP. It's unclear how serious his injury is, but hopefully, he can get back out on the mound soon.

Wade LeBlanc Throws A Quality Start On Thursday

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc put together a quality start in Thursday's game against the Atlanta Braves. LeBlanc went six innings, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out just one. LeBlanc was far from excellent in this start, but the results were there. Luck remains a big part of baseball. With the Cardinals bullpen giving up the game late, LeBlanc ended up without a decision despite his solid effort. He'll take a 4.02 ERA into his next start but is still a streaming option at best.

Wade LeBlanc Works Into The Sixth Inning On Friday

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc pitched well on Friday, falling one out shy of a quality start. LeBlanc tossed 5 2/3 innings against the Twins, allowing just one run on six hits and two walks, striking out three. LeBlanc has been somewhat surprisingly competent as a starter with the Cardinals, and lowered his ERA to 4.17. With the Cardinals acquiring J.A. Happ and Jon Lester on Friday, it's currently unclear how those three soft-tossing lefties will fit into the rotation, but LeBlanc is really only an option in the deepest formats at this point.

Wade LeBlanc Throws Five Solid Innings On Sunday

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc pitched well in Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants. LeBlanc lasted five innings, allowing just one run on five hits and a walk while striking out three. The run he allowed was on a solo homer by Darin Ruf in the fourth inning. LeBlanc did not factor in the decision, but he's been a solid enough starter when called upon since joining the Cardinals. They will almost certainly look to upgrade their starting rotation through trades before the deadline, and LeBlanc is too risky to start in most fantasy formats anyway. He can be left on most fantasy waiver wires.

Wade LeBlanc Does OK In His First Cardinals Start

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Wade LeBlanc was decent in his first start for the Cardinals on Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. LeBlanc had previously made a start for the Orioles this season, but had spent most of his time in the bullpen. With the Cardinals desperate for pitching, LeBlanc took a turn in the rotation and provided 4 1/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits and a walk while striking out two. He'd actually made it through four scoreless innings before allowing a solo home run in the fifth. With the lack of other options in the Cardinals rotation, LeBlanc is likely to get another turn in five days. He's not a recommended fantasy option, however.

Cardinals Sign Lefty Wade LeBlanc

The St. Louis Cardinals signed veteran left-hander Wade LeBlanc on Thursday, and he will join the team for their game on Thursday night against the Atlanta Braves. LeBlanc's one-year deal will pay him $800,000 while in the major leagues and $150,000 while in the minors. Manager Mike Shildt said that LeBlanc will pitch out of the bullpen. The 36-year-old journeyman has pitched for eight different MLB teams in his 13-year career, going 34-41 with a 4.73 ERA over 121 career starts and 12-7 with a 4.23 ERA in 125 relief outings. In six outings (one start) with the Baltimore Orioles earlier this season, LeBlanc allowed seven earned runs while striking out six and walking one in 6 2/3 innings of work. He also pitched in the minors for the Texas Rangers. He'll likely just be eating relief innings for the Red Birds, giving him no real fantasy appeal.
