Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Will Middlebrooks (leg) has been diagnosed with a fractured left fibula. Middlebrooks was injured Saturday when he collided with teammate Andrew Pullin. Middlebrooks still needs to undergo testing on his left ankle, so it is possible he suffered even more damage. Obviously, the non-roster invitee is going to be sidelined for a while, but he wasn't on any fantasy radars to begin with.
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Will Middlebrooks was removed from Saturday's Grapefruit League game with a left ankle injury after colliding with teammate Andrew Pullin. Middlebrooks had to be carted off the field and, according to Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic, Middlebrooks was taken to a local hospital for X-rays. The severity of the injury is not yet known, but any significant absence will hurt his chances of making the club in a reserve role.
Free-agent third baseman Will Middlebrooks is likely to sign a minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. Middlebrooks played in only 22 games in the majors for the Rangers last year and hit just .211 with no home runs and three RBI in 38 at-bats. Since hitting a career-high 17 dingers in 2013 with the Red Sox, Middlebrooks has fallen off the map entirely and was a bust in San Diego and Milwaukee. He'll simply provide corner infield depth for the Phils.
