Houston Rockets shooting guard/small forward David Nwaba (wrist) was expected to miss upwards of six weeks after undergoing wrist surgery, but in a turn of events, he has been deemed questionable to play in Friday's game against Utah. The move seems perfunctory at this stage, as the Rockets are extremely unlikely to thrust Nwaba into game action with his tag likely a means of reaching the eligible players limit, thereby not forfeiting the contest. Nwaba has averaged a career-high 9.4 PPG this season, shooting 48.1 percent overall, but he shouldn't be expected to take the floor and contribute for the foreseeable future.
Houston Rockets forward David Nwaba (wrist) is not expected to be back on the court anytime soon. On Wednesday, he underwent right wrist surgery and should be sidelined at least six weeks. That is a crushing blow to a Rockets team that is already missing Eric Gordon (knee) and Danuel House (knee). Fantasy managers should expect Sterling Brown and Ben McLemore to have decent short-term value while Houston is shorthanded.
Houston Rockets wing David Nwaba scored a team-high 22 points on 9-for-16 shooting in Monday's loss to the Chicago Bulls. He was 1-for-3 from deep and also added nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Houston lost their eighth game in a row on Monday and have struggled to find their offense at times, averaging the eighth-fewest points per game. Maybe it'll show up Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, who allow the ninth-most points per game. With Nwaba scoring in double figures in three of the last four games and posting nine or more rebounds in three consecutive games, he'll be an intriguing DFS option on that slate.
John Wall, David Nwaba Will Play In Saturday’s Contest
Houston Rockets point guard John Wall (back) and shooting guard/small forward David Nwaba (ankle) have both been cleared to play in Saturday's game versus San Antonio, adding to the team's backcourt depth. Wall has seen his minutes total kept in check over the past two weeks as he deals with myriad ailments, whereas Nwaba has been sidelined for the team's last three contests. Without Christian Wood (ankle) available, both Wall and Nwaba could see additional shot attempts funneled in their direction. Both remain finicky DFS selections as they work through injuries but can be rostered in season-long formats should fantasy managers see fit.
David Nwaba Will Miss Third Straight Game Thursday
Houston Rockets guard David Nwaba (ankle) remains sidelined Thursday against the Memphis Grizzlies. Nwaba had "a small chance) to play in this one, but will miss his third straight game with an ankle sprain. Jae'sean Tate has been starting but offers very little upside. Instead, Eric Gordon and Danuel House will continue to see wing minutes off the bench with Gordon having the higher upside of the two. Gordon started Wednesday in place of John Wall and now may start again with Victor Oladipo (rest) out.
Houston Rockets guard/forward David Nwaba (ankle) is expected to go through warm-ups before Thursday's game against the Grizzlies, with head coach Stephen Silas saying Nwaba has a "small chance" to play. Not the most encouraging statement, so it might be best to keep him out of your DFS lineups for one more game just to be safe. The uncertainty here also negatively impacts Danuel House Jr. and Ben McLemore. Unless you're ready to go in and make some last-minute lineup changes, this might be a situation to avoid.
Houston Rockets shooting guard/small forward David Nwaba (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's contest against Oklahoma City due to an ankle injury. Nwaba's absence marks his second consecutive outing on the sidelines, with head coach Stephen Silas stating that Nwaba was able to move well during shootaround Wednesday, an indication that his return may not be far off. With Houston's backcourt/wing having returned to a semblance of full health, Nwaba has seen decreased minutes, which has zapped him of his season-long intrigue. His next chance to take the floor comes Thursday versus the Grizzlies.
David Nwaba Starting Again For Injured Danuel House Jr.
The Houston Rockets are starting forward David Nwaba again for the injured Danuel House Jr. (back) on Wednesday against the Indiana Pacers. House with miss his second-straight game with a back injury and Nwaba is slated to grab his second-straight start. Nwaba started off the year hot with numerous players out due to medical and safety protocols, however did not do much in his start Monday. Nwaba hit 2-of-6 shots from the field and went 0-for-4 at the free throw line for five points, two rebounds, one three-points, one assist and one steal in 29 minutes. Although the 29 minutes is encouraging, Nwaba is not much of a DFS option Wednesday as long as John Wall and James Harden are playing.
Houston Rockets shooting guard David Nwaba will draw the start for Monday's contest versus the Mavericks with Danuel House Jr. (back) unavailable. In both of Nwaba's prior starts this season, he got up double-digit shot attempts, which bodes well for his DFS intrigue. How much Ben McLemore plays in his potential season debut could put a cap on Nwaba's minutes, although getting starter minutes alongside John Wall and James Harden could lead to increased three-point attempts for the first-year Rocket. Nwaba's role is too inconsistent at this stage to merit season-long consideration, especially with Houston getting healthy on the wing after a rocky start to the year.
David Nwaba Scores Season-High 22 Points Off Bench
Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard/small forward David Nwaba needed just 20 minutes off the bench to collect a season-high 22 points during Wednesdays loss to the Brooklyn Nets. The scoring barrage materialized after a nine-game stretch of scoring in single figures. He contributed little else aside from the points, shooting 9-for-13 from the floor, but averaging under 19 minutes per game this season, Nwaba holds little season-long fantasy value since being moved to the bench. Hell see his handful of opportunities down the stretch, though, so hes a Cavalier to keep an eye on in DFS in smaller slates.
