Deonte Burton Scores Career-High 18 Points Off Bench
Oklahoma City Thunder shooting guard/small forward Deonte Burton seized his opportunity at seeing action during Mondays win over the Portland Trail Blazers, shooting 7-for-9 during his 26 minutes en route to a career-high 18 points. Burton had a one-track game, failing to log a rebound or an assist (although he did add three blocks), as he came off the bench looking to score with both Dennis Schroder and Jerami Grant absent. Burton may play his way into some minutes after the All-Star break following the release of Alex Abrines, so Burton's a player to keep an eye on if he gets enough run.
Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Deonte Burton scored 16 points off the bench in Tuesdays preseason win over the Bucks. Burton benefited from the Thunder sitting a barrage of players, recording 24 minutes of playing time. The first-year guard also put up four rebounds, three steals, and even one block. While it was an impressive night, Burton will be behind Dennis Schroder, Hamidou Diallo, and some other bench players to begin the year.
