Dwight Powell Likely to Return on Christmas

Dallas Mavericks center Dwight Powell (illness) is considered probable for Thursday's tilt against the Golden State Warriors. An illness has kept Powell sidelined for two games. Overall, he hasn't featured in four consecutive games, falling out of Jason Kidd's plans following Daniel Gafford's return to the lineup. Powell isn't likely to receive any meaningful playing time as long as Gafford and Anthony Davis are healthy. Davis has missed only one of the last 10 games and has a chance to post a third consecutive 30-point game on Thursday. Gafford's fantasy value has been limited this month, as he has averaged 3.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks.

Dwight Powell Misses Tuesday's Game Due to Illness

Dallas Mavericks center Dwight Powell (illness) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Denver Nuggets. The Canadian big man has to sit this one out due to illness. However, Powell has not been in the rotation recently, so his absence likely won't change Dallas' plans. Anthony Davis and Daniel Gafford will head out for a fascinating battle in the middle against Nikola Jokic and Jonas Valanciunas. This season, Denver has held opposing centers to the ninth-fewest fantasy points in the league.

Dwight Powell Exercises Player Option

Dallas Mavericks forward/center Dwight Powell exercised his $4 million player option on Friday. The 33-year-old has spent nearly his entire career in Dallas. However, he's coming off arguably his worst season in the National Basketball Association, averaging 2.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in 55 games during the 2024-25 campaign. The Mavericks' roster is loaded with bigs, at least as of now, meaning Powell's statistical contributions likely won't improve. It's also hard to imagine he'll have any streaming potential for fantasy managers during the season, assuming he remains in Dallas moving ahead.

Dwight Powell Available On Thursday, Will Play 10-12 Minutes

Dallas Mavericks forward/center Dwight Powell (hip) will play on Thursday versus Charlotte. He missed over a month because of a hip injury but returned for Tuesday's loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. He logged 16 minutes, finishing with two points, five boards, and one block. Head coach Jason Kidd indicated that Powell will see only 10-12 minutes of action on Thursday, meaning the Mavs will need to play smaller than usual at times, resulting in more work for Kessler Edwards, Naji Marshall, and Olivier-Maxence Prosper. Still, nobody on the roster can be trusted outside of Kyrie Irving, who had 35 points, seven boards, three steals, and two blocks versus Los Angeles.

Dwight Powell Returning To The Court On Tuesday

Dallas Mavericks center Dwight Powell (hip) is available ahead of Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Mavs are banged up, but at least they'll get one reinforcement ahead of this game. Powell has been sidelined since mid-January due to a hip issue. That being said, Powell is likely going to be limited considering he hasn't played in over a month. Kessler Edwards figures to continue having a bigger role while Powell works his way back into the mix. Powell figures to see decent minutes once he's back up to full speed.

Dwight Powell Remains Out Against Pelicans

Dallas Mavericks center Dwight Powell (hip) will remain out of the lineup on Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans. It was always unlikely he would play, as the team listed him as doubtful on the initial injury report. Powell's absence will extend to 15 games. His last appearance was on Jan. 17. The Canadian center only participated in non-contact activities during Thursday's practice, indicating he is still some way from returning. With Daniel Gafford (knee), Dereck Lively II (ankle), and Anthony Davis (adductor) also sidelined, Dallas has brought in 7-foot-2 big man Moses Brown on a 10-day contract to bolster its frontcourt depth.

Dwight Powell Doubtful To Return Friday

Dallas Mavericks center Dwight Powell (hip) is nearing a return but is unlikely to be ready to play this Friday when Dallas hosts the Pelicans. Powell went through non-contact activities during practice on Thursday but was listed as doubtful on the injury report for Friday. Powell has been sidelined since January 17, but he has played limited minutes this season, averaging just 7.6 minutes in his 33 games. Despite that very limited workload, he could get extra work when available since Anthony Davis (adductor), Daniel Gafford (knee), and Dereck Lively (ankle) are all sidelined, while P.J. Washington (ankle) is questionable for Friday's contest.

Dwight Powell Ruled Out Thursday Against The Thunder

Dallas Mavericks center Dwight Powell (hip) will miss a third straight game for the Mavs when they visit the Thunder on Thursday night. Powell's absence is poorly timed since Dereck Lively II (ankle) is out for a while leaving Daniel Gafford to play huge minutes in the middle. Gafford has averaged 20.0 points and 11.3 rebounds over his last four games while also posting multiple blocks in each contest and averaging 3.5 blocks per game. Gafford should continue to get huge playing time at center for as long as Powell and Lively are out while Maxi Kleber fills in as the only real backup big man available.

Dwight Powell Ruled Out For Friday

Dallas Mavericks center Dwight Powell (eye) has been ruled out ahead of Friday's game against the Atlanta Hawks. The big man is set to miss another game while he continues to deal with a left eye issue. Maxi Kleber (toe) is listed as probable, but he should be able to suit up for this game. Kleber figures to take on a majority of the backup center minutes in the absence of Powell. However, Kleber probably won't have strong streaming appeal even with increased playing time.

Dwight Powell To Start On Wednesday

Dallas Mavericks forward Dwight Powell will move into the starting five ahead of Wednesday's game against the Toronto Raptors. The Mavs have a void to fill with Dereck Lively II (illness) unavailable for this game. The expectation was that Maxi Kleber (toe) would draw the start in this game. However, that won't be the case as Powell gets the nod in the starting five on Wednesday. Instead, Kleber will come off the bench for his first game back from his toe injury. Fantasy managers looking for a possible streaming option might want to consider Powell as a low-end option.
