Washington Wizards center Ian Mahinmi shot seven of 10 from the field to finish a win over Chicago with 15 points while also chipping in six rebounds in just 21 minutes of action. This was a much-needed performance for Mahinmi, who hadn't scored in double figures since Jan. 22, nine games ago. Thomas Bryant has missed Washington's last two games, but head coach Scott Brooks believes he can be back immediately following the All-Star break. Mahinmi had a nice stretch of games a couple of weeks ago, but if he can't be consistent in Bryant's absence, it's hard to imagine much production from the French big man if he's coming off the bench.
Ian Mahinmi Collects 21 Points In 23 Minutes Before Fouling Out
Washington Wizards center Ian Mahinmi packed the stat sheet during his 23 minutes of action in Mondays win over the Detroit Pistons, shooting 9-for-10 from the floor en route to a 21-point showing. He also recorded seven rebounds, three blocks and two steals before fouling out in the fourth quarter. The scoring output marks the second-highest total of his career, as he appears entrenched among the teams starting five, even with Thomas Bryant being worked back into the rotation. Mahinmi remains a deep league option at best in season-long formats, although he has some DFS upside most nights depending on how low his price tag drops.
Bradley Beal, Ian Mahinmi Tagged As Questionable Monday
Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal and center Ian Mahinmi have both picked up questionable tags for Mondays contest versus the Boston Celtics. Beal has missed four of the Wizards past five games due to a leg injury, while Mahinmi has started each of the teams previous 12 contests. Jordan McRae and a slew of others have seen an increased offensive role while Beal has been sidelined. Check back closer to tip-off to get a read on both Beal and Mahinmi, who will have trickle-down effects attached to their status.
Washington Wizards center Ian Mahinmi played his first regular-season NBA contest Oct. 30, 2007. In career game No. 592 on Monday, Mahinmi scored the most points -- 25 -- in a single outing in his career as he helped to knock off the Miami Heat. If the scoring werent enough, Mahinmi, who had his four threes in his career prior, knocked down two Monday en route to a 10-for-11 overall shooting performance. It was an all-around showing from the 33-year-old, who added five rebounds, two steals and two blocks to what was the best statistical night of his career, capitalizing on the increased playing time and role that the decimated Wizards depth chart has provided him with. He continues to have legitimate fantasy upside moving forward, all the more with the actualization of his ability to score in bunches when given the chance.
Washington Wizards forward Sam Dekker (back) and center Ian Mahinmi (thumb) will play Tuesday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Both Dekker and Mahinmi missed Sunday's contest with their ailments, but seem to have recovered enough to take the court. Both players are not recommended fantasy options in standard leagues as they resume their bench roles.
Washington Wizards forward Sam Dekker (back) and center Ian Mahinmi (thumb) will be game-time decisions for Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Dekker was unable to play on Sunday due to back spasms. Otto Porter and Jeff Green would see increased playing time without Dekker on the court. Mahinmi missed Sunday's game as well, but the X-rays on his thumb came back clean. Thomas Bryant would see more minutes if Mahinmi is out again.
Washington Wizards center Ian Mahinmi provided seven points as he continued to man the middle until Dwight Howard (back) returns in his club's loss on Tuesday. Mahinmi connected on two of his three shots from the floor and 3-for-4 from the line for his points and managed to haul down a solid six rebounds in 20 minutes of action. Mahinmi has actually put together two solid games in a row where he averaged 9.0 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 62.5% from the floor. It is possible that Howard returns this week and if he does, Mahinmi's present minimal value takes a complete dive.
Washington Wizards center Ian Mahinmi (center) returned to the lineup for Friday's 116-112 loss against the Sacramento Kings. He finished with just four points, five rebounds, two steals and an assist across 19 minutes. Mahinmi could see a decent amount of playing time until Dwight Howard (back) is able to return. However, it's likely Markieff Morris sees more time in the middle, limiting Mahinmi's fantasy appeal to deeper formats. The Wizards continue their road trip Sunday against the Clippers.
Washington Wizards center Ian Mahinmi (back) is questionable for Friday's game against the Sacramento Kings. He missed Wednesday's contest and did not go through shootaround on Friday. Jason Smith would likely draw the start if Mahinmi is forced to the sideline. Jeff Green and Kelly Oubre could get more involved as well without Mahinmi in the rotation.
Washington Wizards center Ian Mahinmi (concussion) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Boston Celtics. As of Sunday, Mahinmi had not cleared the NBA's concussion protocol. The Wizards main priority is getting him back for the playoffs, so we could see Mahinmi sit out the final two games of the regular season. Jason Smith will see increased playing time off the bench until Mahinmi is cleared to play. Mahinmi usually only sees minutes in the teens, so it's difficult to see Smith as an option in DFS contests.
