Denver Nuggets guard Ish Smith (calf) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the New York Knicks. This shouldn't come as a surprise considering Smith hasn't played in two weeks. His absence won't make too big of an impact on the rotation. However, the Nuggets are going to be shorthanded for this game with Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, and Bones Hyland sidelined. Bruce Brown should see around 30 minutes of action with the Nuggets shorthanded. He'll be an interesting streaming option in the short term.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Ish Smith Traded To Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets have acquired guard/forward Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and point guard Ish Smith in a trade with the Washington Wizards. The Nuggets sent guard Monte Morris and forward Will Barton to Washington in the deal. KCP figures to be a key wing for the Nuggets in 2022-23. Last year, the versatile veteran averaged 13.2 points, 2.1 three-pointers and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 39% from three-point range. Smith, meanwhile, will help give the Nuggets point guard depth behind Jamal Murray, who is expected to make his long-awaited return at the start of the upcoming season.
Charlotte Hornets guard Ish Smith is not listed on the injury report ahead of Friday's game with the Portland Trail Blazers. Smith is poised to make his return to the court for the first time since Dec. 5. LaMelo Ball is questionable and would take a big chunk of Smith's fantasy value if he is able to go. If not, Smith would likely assume the starting point guard role, assuming his conditioning is up to par.
Charlotte Hornets guard Ish Smith has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the San Antonio Spurs. He'll remain sidelined due to the league's safety protocols. The Hornets have been crushed with players entering the COVID list. That being said, Terry Rozier, Miles Bridges, and Gordon Hayward will be asked to carry the workload. All three of them are worth looking at in DFS contests while the Hornets are shorthanded. It's unlikely Smith has much value once he returns. LaMelo Ball will hopefully return within a week, which would end Smith's value.
Charlotte Hornets guard Ish Smith has been placed in the NBA's health and safety protocols. That means, Smith along with a handful of other players won't be available for Monday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Gordon Hayward and Miles Bridges should operate as the primary playmakers in this one. James Bouknight could finally see meaningful minutes, but he'll be a risky DFS option. Both Hayward and Bridges sound like reliable options for Monday's slate.
Charlotte Hornets point guard Ish Smith made his first start of the season on Sunday against Atlanta and ended up having a fine game with 18 points, five rebounds, seven assists and one steal in a 130-127 win. He shot 8-for-14 from the field and 2-for-4 from downtown, giving away the ball just once in 32 minutes. Smith has taken over the starting role from LaMelo Ball, who is set to miss at least 10 days because of health and safety protocols. The veteran guard should provide some nice short-term value for fantasy managers. Smith now gets two consecutive games against the Sixers, who have been a mediocre defensive team against opposing point guards this season.
Washington Wizards guard Ish Smith (groin) is questionable for Monday's matchup against Philly. Smith popped up on the latest injury report with a left groin strain, and he may end up sitting out for Game 4. The veteran is averaging 7.7 points, three assists, three boards, and 1.7 steals during the postseason. If he isn't available, Raul Neto could be in line for more work, even more so if Russell Westbrook (ankle) can't play.
Washington Wizards guard Ish Smith got off to a hot start during Tuesday's play-in matchup against the Boston Celtics. He scored 11 points in the first nine minutes, but cooled off after that. Smith finished with 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals in 26 minutes. It was a nice outing by Smith, but it was wasted on a night where Russell Westbrook couldn't find his shot. Hopefully Smith's hot hand will carry over into their next game against the Indiana Pacers.
Washington Wizards guard Ish Smith (quad) will be out for the next six-to-eight weeks with a quad injury. The injury firmly cements Raul Neto in the backup point guard role and the Wizards will likely also run Bradley Beal as the primary ball-handler more often. Neto would be a great streamer whenever Russell Westbrook sits, but Westbrook played the most recent back-to-back set. Smith is set to be re-evaluated in three weeks, but does not hold any fantasy value and can be safely left on the wire.
Washington Wizards point guard Ish Smith (quad) will not play Sunday against the Boston Celtics and has also been ruled out for Monday against the Houston Rockets. Smith was doubtful to play Sunday and with a back-to-back set, it makes sense he was ruled out for both. Raul Neto figures to take the backup point guard minutes and is a prime DFS target on Monday if Russell Westbrook (rest) sits out again. Neto's path to minutes relies solely on Westbrook's health and is not a recommended play with Westbrook healthy.
