Jalen McDaniels News
Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jalen McDaniels (personal) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Orlando Magic. The young forward is dealing with a personal issue, so he could return possibly next game. However, the Wolves aren't competitive right now, so they have no incentive to rush him back on the floor. Jarred Vanderbilt is coming off an outing where he posted eight points, 11 rebounds, five steals, and two blocks. He should be considered as a sneaky streaming option for Sunday.
Charlotte Hornets power forward Jalen McDaniels was back in the starting lineup on Tuesday against Detroit, and he celebrated it with a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double in a 102-99 win. The 23-year-old got the nod with P.J. Washington (personal) and Miles Bridges (health and safety protocols) sidelined for the game. McDaniels also posted three steals, one assist and one block with 4-for-11 shooting from the field. Bridges, who has played great basketball lately, is set to miss multiple games, and there hasn't been an update on Washington's status yet, so McDaniels might just get a few more chances this week. He's averaging 11.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, two assists and 1.5 steals as a starter.
Charlotte Hornets power forward Jalen McDaniels entered the starting lineup for Wednesday's matchup against OKC and had a career night with 21 points on 9-for-14 shooting. He was 3-for-6 from downtown and completed his night at the office with six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and zero turnovers in 32 minutes. McDaniels has been out of the rotation for most of the season, but the injury bug has badly stung the Hornets and it gave the 23-year-old a chance to shine. He grabbed the opportunity with both hands in his second career start and surely improved his chances of getting more playing time moving forward. McDaniels will try to impress again in Friday's meeting with the Bucks.
Charlotte Hornets power forward Jalen McDaniels has been recalled to the active roster for Sunday's game versus San Antonio due to the absences of Gordon Hayward (back), P.J. Washington, Caleb Martin, and Cody Martin (health protocols). With Miles Bridges the only other true option to play the four, McDaniels figures to see some run Sunday, which with his DFS price tag at the bare minimum, makes him an intriguing punt play option. Earlier this year, McDaniels produced two double-digit scoring outings off of the bench before departing for the G League bubble. He'll carry some risk due to the fact that he hasn't played in an NBA game since Jan. 13, but he could carve out a niche for himself with a stretch of impressive showings.
