James Bouknight Out At Least Four Weeks

Charlotte Hornets guard James Bouknight (knee) is set to undergo surgery after suffering an injury during practice last Thursday. The team announced on Tuesday that Bouknight will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Wednesday to address a meniscus injury in his left knee. The 23-year-old will be re-evaluated in four weeks, which means he'll miss the first two weeks of the regular season. Bouknight isn't a huge part of the rotation, so his absence won't make a big impact on the Hornets rotation. He averaged 5.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 15.1 minutes per game through 34 games with the Hornets last season. Nick Smith Jr. and Amari Bailey are expected to see more minutes during the preseason with Bouknight sidelined.

James Bouknight Sprains His Knee In Training Camp

Charlotte Hornets guard James Bouknight (knee) had to miss out on the team's scrimmage on Saturday after spraining his left knee during training camp. The team hasn't released any updates since the knee sprain happened, but it sounds like he'll have to miss at least a few days. The 23-year-old has had some injury issues over the last couple of seasons and has gone back and forth between the G League and the Hornets. He's only played a total of 65 games in the past two years and saw just 15.1 minutes per contest last season. He's off of the fantasy radar at the moment and needs a big year to get back to some relevance.

James Bouknight Sidelined On Wednesday

Charlotte Hornets rookie guard James Bouknight (wrist) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Chicago Bulls. He is dealing with a right wrist sprain. The former UConn Husky has been buried on the bench this year, but the Hornets are extremely short-handed right now, so it's unfortunate he's unable to go. Gordon Hayward (ankle) and Cody Martin (ankle) are also out for the game. Kelly Oubre Jr. will likely join the starting lineup on Wednesday, replacing Hayward, while Ish Smith figures to have a big role off the bench, backing up starting guards LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier. Oubre is a great DFS play on Wednesday and Smith is also worth considering as a low cost value play.

James Bouknight Dealing With Wrist Injury

Charlotte Hornets rookie point guard James Bouknight (wrist) was ruled out for Monday's game against the Toronto Raptors due to a right wrist sprain. It's been a rough year for the rookie out of Connecticut, who was selected 11th overall in this past year's draft. He's seen limited playing time off the bench. In the team's most recent game before this one, he voiced his frustrations to head coach James Borrego and the video of Bouknight's rant made the social media rounds. The 21-year-old has a great deal of potential on the offensive side of the ball, but we're unlikely to see much of that materialize this year. He's appeared in just 25 games while averaging 4.8 points per game and shooting just 36.8% from the field.
