Juan Hernangomez News
Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio and power forward Juan Hernangomezhave been ruled out for Friday's contest versus the Grizzlies due to the league's COVID-19 protocols. Hernangomez has been announced to be unavailable for the next 10 days, meaning that he'll miss at least five contests before getting back into action. Without Rubio among the second unit for the time being, Jordan McLaughlin figures to step into a larger role, albeit not one worthy of season-long consideration at this stage. The next chance that Rubio could return comes Monday against Atlanta, but the league has been stringent in its contact-tracing procedures, making his true return date uncertain.
Forward Juan Hernangomez has agreed to a three-year, $21 million deal to stay with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Traded to Minny in February, Hernangomez played 14 games for the team, starting all of them and averaging 12.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, plus shooting 42 percent from deep on his way to 2.4 made threes per game. Likely to start again, he may cede some usage to rookie Anthony Edwards, but Hernangomez should still get enough work to be a solid late-round fantasy addition.
Minnesota Timberwolves forward Juan Hernangomez was extended the qualifying offer by the organization. He played well during his short time with the Wolves last season. Sadly, it was only a 14 game sample size and the team was without Karl-Anthony Towns during most of those contests. The Wolves will be able to match any offer that Hernangomez receives during the offseason. There is a good chance that Hernangomez lands in the Wolves starting five next season. He could be a late-round option on draft day, assuming he stays in Minnesota.
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Malik Beasley and forward Juan Hernangomez could stick around longer than the 2019-2020 season. Team president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas would like to re-sign both players this offseason. "We want those guys to be Timberwolves for a long, long time," Rosas said. Beasley is averaging 20.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 3.5 triples during his 14 games in Minnesota. He could be a popular free agent if he decides to test the market. Hernangomez has played better with the Wolves as well, so it'll be interesting to see if they decide to stay long term.
